Any predictions for this festival?  I haven't seen the list of crews going there.
Who is running the race-side, and what kind of boats are they using?

I was under the impression that Water's Edge would be running the racing side. As for boats I think they are leaning toward the Dynasty's but there is still an outside chance of the BUK's.  As long as we don't have to paddle in 6/16 I will be happy.

Water's Edge will not be running the water / race side of this festival. WE will be leasing out their BUK's and the other set of boats that will be used are 6/16's.

We got spare rooms in our condos (high-rise right next to the race site) for this weekend in Kelowna, Fri-Sun nights. If you are interested in sharing in with us, please let me know ASAP!

That's a pretty decent field.  Looks like Masters is the favourite to take it but there are a couple of teams that should push them pretty good.  I see CCR has made a comeback again this year, if they build on last years showing they'll be tough.  Good showing from some strong calgary crews too: Dragnum, Gaurdian, Topmade.  All 3, but particularly Dragnum I'd say, have the potential to push for a top spot, if they're fielding the same crew as in calgary.  And of course Sudden Impact black who've been having a strong season.  I haven't followed NAVY too closely this year but they're always a good crew. It'll be interesting to see how RGL does, they've been having a really strong season.  and I hear TD lightening is the "blessed with ringers" group this year (a la "Shaggin' FCRCC" in 2006)!

As of the moment the forecast is looking great for Saturday and Sunday, according to weathernetwork.com its supposed to be 24 each day with 0% POP... BUT interestingly enough, monday is supposed to be 100% POP, so... that's rather suspect.  lets all cross our fingers that the nasty weather stays away until after the races are done!

Lets not forget River City Dragons, Portland Fire Dragons and Blu By U. They will all be tough.

Geez we might as well mention every other team then huh?  Laughing

I think all teams are tough. It is just a question of how tough really.

I agree that Masters of D'Zone are my top pick. The rest is up for grabs. Heck I expect SI Black, Crews Control Reunited, one of the Calgary teams and probably one of the Portland teams to be in the top 5. Sorry that I don't know which ones from Calgary or Portland are the favs but I feel there will be a good representation for all of the above.

Teamwork is so important that it is virtually impossible for the team to reach the heights of it's capabilities or achieve winning results without becoming very good at it. You must practice TEAMWORK as a team, not as individuals!

The Calgary teams include CRC, Dragnum, Topmade Fusion & Guardian Dragons.  There are a few others on the list as well, but I'd list these as the top local contenders.  Dragnum and Guardian placed ahead of the FODB/Sudden Impact mishmash team in the A division final in Calgary, so read into that what you will (of course teams don't necessarily have all of their best paddlers at any given festival).  CRC of course raced in the Crew Club division and Topmade can always be a contender depending on who is on the boat at the time - their club has a lot of paddlers.

Don't worry, we're not sending a team.   Razz
(although I think a few of our members are going to return the favour done for us in the Vancouver TW festival, paddling for various teams as fill-ins)

i don't think anyone is forgetting.  as I recall, River city edged my crew out for 3rd in platinum last year.  i only mentioned teams that i had some recent opinion on.

which is kinda what my post was about, sharing my opinion of which calgary crew(s) will be tougher based on my experiences racing against them recently.

Wanker: I could be wrong but I didn't notice CRC on the grid.

you tell us

Discussion Forums, where people discuss things and share opinions.  What a concept.  Then again, why doesn't everyone just start making random predictions like usual.

Oops, you're right.  I believe that I was mixing up who is going to SF with this festival.
