What a crazy weekend! Congrats to all the winners.  I think Water's Edge did a great job given the weather conditions and the fact that 14 volunteers didn't show up!!

14 volunteers did not show up?  and I thought that behaviour was more for Stampede Week? Smile

Many thanks to the volunteers that did work in the cold and the rain.

I'll second that - awesome job by the volunteers. The weather on Sunday was miserable and they did a great job standing out there in the cold all day - many thanks.

Same goes for the Watersedge crew who did another excellent job running a festival.

Despite Sunday's weather it turned out to be an excellent festival.

The Calgary Dragon Boat Festival was great!  The live bands are always a plus, especially when their good.  Sleemans as a main sponsor only spells "trouble". The weather was wet and cold but that seems to be a trend this year for festivals.  Water's Edge did a great job as usual.  Like many people I'm trying to find the results ... seems odd that nothing is posted on the Calgary website, Water's Edge, or anywhere?!?

Any ideas?

To the organizers...The race format was great! Clapping and Water's Edge did a great job of race management, as per usual. Clapping

Volunteers were in short supply, but participating teams ponied up to the bar to help where they could...Thank you! This is the way it should be. Clapping

Kudos to Navy, who set-up an additional marshalling tent (in the p!ss!ng rain)...During their race marshalling...Probably hung over drink...For the benefit of others. Clapping

What can I say about the B.C. contingent? We all showed ourselves well and had quite a bit of fun at the same time. Cheers
Don't worry, we won't post ALL the photos! Embarassed heehee

Finally to Calgary, the city... Ever heard the term 'paddle til you puke'? I wouldn't drink the water for a few days. argh!

I would simply LOVE to see some pictures....my neice reaces with NAVY and I hear they are always a lot of fun on and off the water.......hmmmm........maybe I don't want to see the pictures!!

Great racing though, to all the teams...the standings reflect hard work and determination...and some damn good racing!

Also, about the "paddle 'till you puke comment" I do believe you can thank 2 NAVY paddlers for that...one of whom is my neice.....oh dear!

We love that NAVY team here in Calgary!  They really add character to the whole festival!  They are so friendly, and show a great spirit of sportsmanship!  They're also great paddlers!  You know, I think I may have met your niece in the "all ages beverage garden".  She seemed to be recovering nicely!

I think the name is "Freshly Impacted Wahine Fish", which sounds slightly inappropriate, accounting for our behaviour most of the weekend!  I couldn't have asked for a better group of people to paddle with in Calgary!  You all are the best! It was nice to bring some bling home to BC!

Results are posted on Calgarydragonboat.com.  Go go go go go!

Also, congrats to the various winners out there.  Great to see the out of town teams again - more of those this year, for obvious reasons.  Hopefully we can see more of that in future festivals everywhere.  After a tough year for us, the festival ended on a high note for our (rebuilding) club, as we had a very strong finish after falling behind.  Only 2 -100ths of a second out of gold in the division we ended up in.  Oh well, it gives us something to think about all winter long and should provide some motivation for our new paddlers.   Laughing
