Hello Everyone,

When I was in Australia, as part of the team that competed in the Australian Nationals, I meet up with a fellow law enforcement paddler that wanted to compete in the 2009 World Police and Fireman Games in Vancouver.  Apparently DB was part of the last World Police and Fireman Games.  I've searched the internet and talked to a few people but I can't find any information about Dragon Boat racing being apart of this event.

Has anyone heard anything?

Hello mate, I competed in the Dragon boat racing at the World Police and Firemans games.
had a great time, a lot more relaxed than world titles and if teams were short we could use other registered competitors as long as they were registered on your team sheets.

regards

Here's the link for the 2009 games.  Dragon boating is not one of the 67 listed sports but it is listed in the expression of interest form.

Hello Everyone,

On July 31 - August 9, 2009 The World Police and Fireman Games will be held in Vancouver [www.2009wpfg.ca].  They will have Dragon Boating as one of there events.  I will be paddling!

If anyone is interested in joining me - I could use another ... 16-18 paddlers.  The Sudden Impact Dragon Boat team that Paddles at Cultus Lake already has 3 members as part of their competitive crew that are employed in law enforcement and are interested in entering a team ... I would like to put a very competitive team together.  I am willing to drive into Vancouver once a week if the bulk of the paddlers are from that area.

If your interested in forming a team please PM me.

The very fact that Colossus is considering in paddling is very cool.  We might be able to enter a men's, women, and mixed team [going to find out the format and what we can enter].  You will need to tell me if your male or female as well.

I think I could be of help too Karm. I am very good at steering. And if I get in shape I could be back on the seat as a paddler too! Keep me in the loop please!

If this involves correctional officers too, I'll talk to one of the other FC guys who I believe is with the sheriffs.

I'll send him an email and see if he's interested.  There is also a firefighter that used to be on the team that moved up to PG, as well as a former firefighter (not sure if he's technically retired or not though) that is still local and paddling.  I'll send out a few emails probably today, or maybe tomorrow.

Where will the dragonboat races for the fireman / Police Games be held ?

I thought they were using Burnaby venues - any chance that Burnaby lake is being dredged for the event ? That would be great to finally have a neutral race course.
