"with prior competitive racing experience" would be preferred but not essential. You will learn from one of the top coaches on the West Coast, with personal one on one coaching. Roli will be training and racing extensively in outrigger and other small boats (OC1,K-1, kayak...) this season. Please feel free to come out for a 'test drive' if you are one of the many wanting to improve your dragonboat and outrigger skills and still have a good time
Cheers!
Special K
PS: If you are 39 (and holding) you do qualify as a Masters.

FYI, currently Roli practice time slots are Sunday 9:00am (small boats) and Thursday's 7:00pm (OC6). As the season progresses more practice's will be added.
Cheers!

If you're worried because you have no small boat or outrigger training ........don't worry ......you will be given one on one training and it takes no time to learn and adapt .........its great crosstraining

still looking for strong women over the age of 39 and men too ........ give it a try !!! ......There is nothing that compares as to making it this exciting world level of racing ......... its something you will always look back on and remember .You will be racing against all the top crews from around the world ........the best of the best
Again please note : If you're a paddler w/ racing experience and time commitments or commitments to other training/racing prevents you from coming out to practice ,thats ok ,we can work with you.... just talk to us and I'm sure we can come up with something that will work and still allow you to be a part of this masters team .Even if you are from outside of the lower mainland and can make it to a couple of practices a month we would like to hear from you

My understanding is that Roli is now the "FCRCC Masters OC & DB Program" (

I am curious.
Is the Roli/FCRCC Masters program in any way connected/affiliated with the Men's Distance Program or the Men's Sprint program?? Does the FCRCC administration have any position on having Roli as a sponsor of a
FCRCC program???

They're all connected in that they're all FCRCC club programs but they're run completely independently as far as I know. There might be a few extremists paddling in multiple programs but usually people stick to just one (or at least one main one and maybe dabbling in another). Also note the difference between training programs and teams (which may use training programs and time trial results for their selection process). As for getting sponsors for teams, I haven't heard anyone object and I can't think why this would be a problem. Don't take this as the definitive word from the club, however, as things can be a bit murky with respect to how things are really organized as opposed to how one might think they are organized.

As far as I know............the sponsor "Roli " did not come through this year and therefore the team will more than likely be renamed and I wouldn't be surprised if the team falls under the FCRCC name from here on in .FCRCC has alot of very good masters within its ranks but most of them already paddle with the sprint teams and for some time there has been talk of forming a serious masters sprint team to take a shot at qualifying for the World Championships in Russia in 2009 as well as the 2008 Club Crews in Malaysia
This is a team that alot of paddlers over 40 should take a good look at and consider stepping up to .It's as tough and fast a division as any open division is ....just look at the times turned in the last worlds and national team trials . If you have ever wanted to race at the world level maybe this team is for you .....

Not sure on that one..........but I would think you would have to live in Canada or have dual citizenship
