kelowna is a great racing event.  we lucked out... our team raced in "boat 4" the Channel M boat!
other than that... looking at the results for Platinum A finals the times were extremely tight to the finish.  it was fun... congrats to all the teams  Clapping

Awesome racing everyone.  Water conditions seemed very calm for the whole weekend.  The fastest team from Manitoba was definitely very fast.  The German crew was very good too.  And what's with Shaggin Dragons making Platinum?  They weren't on anyone's radar!  Maybe they're doing less shaggin' and more paddlin'.   Very Happy

Guardian ended up taking 1st place in the Gold A division, but it looks like they could've been 1 division higher since they were 4 seconds ahead of the other teams in their final heat.

well besides "dirty boats", "bad lanes" etc... we got teams here who placed in the top 20 in Alcan being beat by rec C and D teams....so what good are predictions when rosters change so much during the season! i.e. shaggin with 5 top false creek men beats Ultimate by a boat length in their first heat!!!...good for them to feel how a boat can fly, but i cant wait til the standings are made for next year.....

I only have a few words I gotsa to say

 SSSSSSHAGGIN DRAGONS..... SHA.... SHA.... SHASHAGGIN...DRAGONS

say it with my now !! drink

welcome to the big league peoples ! OMG .......did you see the girls workin it at da club ?  HAHA ( I know there are some priceless pictures out there ...feel free to post if you gots them people ) This team loves to display public affection for their fellow teammates  Wink

At the beginning of this weekend Shaggin was just another rec team...enter FCRCC ............ As I looked over at the boat on the start line in the final there was SHAGGIN ...no more Miss nice gurls ( drummer now had this " I'm going to kick some serious butt " look on )...... they went from the party animal to intense race face in seconds....I don't know if I can handle the Shaggin crew in Comp A .........its just hard to take them serious ,lol .

My understanding though is the gurls have now convinced my crew to convert and race under the Shaggin banner ..... Next year the new team will be known as  "We've Been Shaggin FCRCC"  - MIXED

 SHAGGIN DRAGONS..... SHA.... SHA.... SHASHAGGIN...DRAGONS

they only had 4 FCRCC paddlers on the boat.  the 5th rostered guy didn't paddle the whole weekend.  he was relaxing with his old teammates  Cool

teams missing paddlers from a full roster + paddlers wanting to paddle (but their teams not going) = paddlers joining other teams for the festival.
the reason people end up where they do most of the time, is because they have some sort of connection or relationship with that team previously (such as beer garden commeraderies) and/or they follow friends.

Who wouldn't want to join the Shaggin Dragons with all that free lube they give out!  Not a bad way to pick up on the opposite sex.  Also what an opportunity for rec level paddlers to experience paddling with some of the finest on the creek.  I'm sure it drove many to paddle harder as well and imagine the tips on technique they received.  There should be more festivals/clinics where the comp mix it up with the rec and help out.  Kudos to those who jumped on 'fun' teams to help out.  Clapping
