I was wondering if anyone else is staying at the Discovery Bay Resort (1088 Sunset Drive - I think) on the days of the Kelowna Festival?  It's one of the condo suites right in front of the Kelowna festival and was recently in the news because of the structural problems.  If so, just wondering if you've heard any further infomartion about it since the last time it was on the news a few days ago.

We (Portland Fire Dragons) are staying at Discovery Pointe Resort (not the Bay).  This will be our second year there and we've already given our 20% deposit to secure our suites.  Please forward any links to the news about structural issues - thank you!  Sounds like I will have to contact Brian at the Resort ASAP.

I don't think your suites are effected by this, but let me know if you hear anything about it.

I've got 3 condo's booked for Kelowna and the owners have some structural things to do according to the management company.  They've got all bookings cancelled for July and August and within the next 2 weeks will know if the construction and structural issues will go into September.  The management company I'm dealing with will be notifying those who've booked with them shortly with an update, etc. so that there should still be time to make alternate arrangements, if necessary.  No one has been evicted by the way.

That's the info I got just now as well.

Dragonboatmom, I take it that you're staying with them until you hear otherwise?  Are you dealing with Arlene from Kelowna Bay Resort?  Depending on what they have to say in a week (or if they don't get back to me at all) I'm going to start looking elsewhere.  I'm pretty sure all the good places are booked by now though.

It sounds like it'll be safe but I don't want to take any chances of them cancelling Sept bookings as well.   Sad

Yea we just got an email from arlene.. They did cancel reservations through August, i'm keeping my hopes up. Half our team will need to find alternate accomodations if not done in time. really sucks.. Contractor said anywhere from 2 weeks to 2 months to finish repairs so really they have no idea. Here's hoping. We will be looking for alternate accomodations I'm sure, keeping the reservation though just in case.

I'll sleep in my car if I have to Wink

I'll be doing both.. looking for something else as well as hanging onto Kelowna Bay as long as possible, and yes, I'm dealing with Arlene too.  She'll be as supportive as she can with all of us.
I've got pretty much a whole team to house.. so it's going to be a tad difficult. Good luck to everyone who's in the same leaky boat.  See you on the water.
