Does anyone have more information about the Hawaii Dragon Boat festival? I've heard it's great fun - and you can't beat the venue!

Greetings soma_paddler!

the link to the festival is:
http://www.chinatownhi.com/dragonboat/

A rather inconsequential website....pretty lame really. The Hawaii festival uses Taiwanese flagcatchers just like the ones used in the Portland Rose Festival. Team consists of 16 paddlers, 1 steers, 1 drummer & the flagcatcher.

Some members of my team went this year. I personally didn't. Here is my understanding of the event.

It is a one day event, very laid back (of course). It is not really a competitive event. Most people are there because it is Hawaii or they are locals.

FYI, facilities are limited. Limited tents provided so several of the team members got cooked by the sun. Plan ahead!
