Another Awesome event put out by Nanaimo , no disapointments (except for the 2.5 hour cloud burst saturday afeternoon) great racing and once again the best beer tent tent around!
The GD's came through in the end with an awesome last race beating Absolut Andrenaline (who posted the fastest time saturday) and Extreme Reach (who eked out second by .2 seconds, Great finish!) in an exciting finals. The water was not as rough as last year but with the wicked cross current made steers earn their beer for sure! Due to the low turnout by Vancouvers big teams due to the Sea Vancouver fest there were a few hearty teams that made the worhwhile jounrney including E&C booze cruise who scooped Gold in the Jade divsion final. (There goes some coaches dry spell....) and a few crews fom Kelowna  including those CRAZY Fire and ISIS ladies who won the trophy for the highest placing Women's team and Bronze In the Jade Final!.
Result are posted here http://www.nanaimodragonboat.com/images/sundayresults.pdf

Oh Yes! Here is a link to some pics from my new "Pole" buddies from Fire and Isis. I think they'll be lessons in Kelowna!

And for anyone who thinks the BSC teams are not competative check out some of these pics!

Great pictures Lethal!  Thanks for sharing them!!

It was the first time I'd ever been to Nanaimo and I must agree... GREAT FESTIVAL!!  No complaints at all!!  (okay, maybe just one but I'll keep that to myself)  Got a tad wet on Saturday... thanks to whoever packed all our stuff into the tent while we were racing through the rain storm.  It was a hair raising  Shocked (literally) experience being out there... we were static charged with energy!!!

I am from StrangeBrew and had the honour of paddling with the Gorging Dragons this past weekend.  Thank you GD for the great experience, laughs and good time!!  Watch out, cuz the Brew Crew is coming thru!! ha ha ha!!  Dance

MORE BEER!!  Cheers  Cheers

Thanks to all the volunteers!!  You guys made it an unforgettable weekend!!!   Clapping

Great Pics, there was a fourth team in the Platinum A final, Precision Impossible, (the new PI) even though we didn't win a medal we did post the 3rd fastest time of the weekend.  It was a great festival and we were honored to paddle against such strong Victoria teams!!

Nice pics Lethal!

I see that you were able to get on chase boat again. And did you get a medal too?

Yaman! Not a Bridesmaid this year! My good friends at Absolut carried my fat a$$ to a Bronze in the Platinum final!
I got to find a way to get in a boat somehow!

Laughing BAstion Dragons thanks you for the picture. We are a team of newbies and have less than two months behind us so we were thrilled to win gold in the Amythest division. Thanks to Claire and Robert. We seemed to shine in the Beer Garden and after paddling in the downpour we know what a watersport is. Great festival--well run with great timing and logistics. Well done Ian.Andrea, Eric and your crews.

Yes!
I saw it at Alcan as well and it blew me away
I think the lady said it was 14 years old or something like that.
BUt like I said, too cute and small to have any effective use as a missile  Laughing

Great photos!
I, too, was there, and took photos from the shore  Rolling Eyes  knowing full well I'd be looking at tiny little boats and lots of sky and water in the prints...No matter though, what a great festival!  It was the first time our team had been to a big festival, I see why I always hear good things about Nanaimo!  We had tonnes of fun and placed 2nd in the Pearl A Final which we were happy with considering we only had 16 paddlers on Sunday...
Looking forward to Vic in August for sure  Very Happy

Really?!  Oh dear.  No one said anything to us about it and they definately noticed we were short paddlers.  We had 18 on Sat, but then ended up being short on Sunday.
