I just found out tonight that my friend Anson has passed away suddenly! I believe it was within the last 24 hours and totally unexpected. My understanding is that it was not anything unexpected like an car accident but more to do with a sudden illness. The details I got were from a third party so I apologize for the uncertainty. Thought those of you who knew him might want to know.

RIP my friend and former crew mate. Your are in my thoughts and those of many others I'm sure.

Anson passed away on the morning of September 22, 2008.
It was indeed a sudden illness, but nothing more is known at this time.
I will post updates as I receive them.

It saddens me to hear of Anson's passing. I originally met him when I jumped onto the Team M-Power boat to race with them for Victoria. Even though we eventually didn't get to race due to being put on the wait list, I ended up with a number of friends that I continued to keep in touch with. Among them was Anson. I would bump into him during festivals and chat about how teams were doing or simply just shoot the s$% about stuff.

He was a great guy and my thoughts go out to his friends and family. They have lost a great person... and he will be sorely missed.

Wow .......that is soooooo sad ....Anson was great guy and worked hard to make the team a couple of years ago . When I  joined FCRCC it was Anson that I had to go against in my first time trial and he gave me a great run for the money !!

I'm not sure what to say .......  My condolences to his family ......like I said ,he was a great guy .I know that those off us who race for and raced along side Anson ,on FCRCC , will miss his smiling face around the club and on the water

******** Could someone please post any info with regards to services that may be held for Anson when they become aval......some of his former team members would like to attend ....thank you *****

I am just stuned.  Anson was so young, and such a great guy.  I don't ever remember seeing him angry.  Whenever I seen him he always had that signature smile.  It saddens me greatly thinking about his passing.  I can't believe it's true, I don't want it to be true.  He will be deaply missed.  I just don't know what else to say.   Crying or Very sad

I never had the privilege of paddling with Anson, nor did I have a chance to get to know him well. But I am grateful that I had the opportunity to profile him, and he was always a joy to chit chat with at the races.

I've never had the fortune to meet Anson, but my sister paddled with him on several teams, so I first heard about this yesterday afternoon.  Just judging from the pictures, it seems as if he has been taken from us far too soon.  My sister was saddened to hear about his passing and I can say with a great degree of certainty that he was a great friend to all he has met, just based on my sister's reaction.  My heart goes out to his family for having to deal with such an unfortunate, and sudden, tragedy in all their lives.

A viewing will be held this Saturday September 27th from 9am until 11am at the Richmond Funeral Home http://www.richmond-funeral.ca/
http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=28236088037

I've been told that this is only 90% confirmed. We are awaiting the coroner's findings and I will update immediately.

Funeral services are being planned in the Toronto area.

We will be setting up a memorial wall for Anson at either Forest Lawn or Oceanview either by Saturday or the week following. If anyone would like to donate money towards this, please bring your contributions to the viewing on Saturday. There will be a box available to slip your envelope in.

Please note: this is only a viewing. The actual service will be held in Toronto.

Also, I've been informed that the room probably will not be able to accommodate everyone at once. We are hoping people will be arriving throughout the viewing.

Do you know what the cause of death was?  What was the illness?
