A little tiddle from the Yahoom dragonboat forum  Rolling Eyes

Announcing Champion's newest dragon boat, IDBF approved

Dalian Qianlong Aquatic Sports Development Co., Ltd,
now adds IDBF to their resume of certifications and
approvals for their equipment. Having Champion used

boat. Complete with head, tail, drum, drummer seat,
steering oar and painted scales on a white hull 20
paddler dragon boat! Shipping, handling, customs and
taxes are NOT included.

Discounts available to orders of 4 boats or more.

information on our non-IDBF models:
http://www.metroevent.com/champion. We hope to have more
information on the new CDW-20i boat on the site within a
week.

I saw the same ad so I went and looked.  Looks nice but I think there are a couple of potential problems, the boat is only 37.89ft long and did you see the amount of wood.  Now we all know how tight the Gemini  is Very Happy and it is 41ft with 11 seats.  I think these may be just as tight.  They are more open for the leg to get through based on the pics so that may help the bigger people (and you know who you are now don't you  Shocked ).  As for the wood, with our exceptionally dry weather the wood may not stand up to the weather without refinishing each year or two which would have to be factored into the "final" cost.

$5400US works out to about $6800 CAD plus freight so they are cheap.  I think we should send a DB team or two over to go inspect them (based on the ADBF Rant thread that is the only way to do things)  Razz.  First two teams to get the funds together to go look at them let us all know so we can send you our criteria for the perfect boat because if it is not the perfect boat we don't want it in Vancouver.
