This weekend, Victoria's Inner Harbour will teem with hundreds of rowers, dozens of big, colourful boats and the sound of drumming.  The Victoria Dragon Boat Festival celebrates its 10th anniversary this year, and it promises to be the largest to date.  Ninety teams are registered, 37 of which are local and some coming from as far away as Ontario and South Carolina.

To mark the festival's 10th anniversary, some new events are taking place this year.  Victoria's Chinatown will be converted into The Forbidden City, which will feature Asian dance and martial arts demonstrations, tea ceremonies and live music.

"Through extravagant decorations, as well as the presentation of cultural demonstrations and Pan-Asian foods, we are attempting to create an area which has the feel of an Asian night market," said festival chairperson Jeff Chow.

Hmmmm.....rowers and dragon boats......that should be a pretty funny event to watch.  I wonder which way they will sit in the boat.....facing their "coxs" or facing their "steers"..... Thinking

And only hundreds will teem at Victoria's Inner Harbour,  not almost 2,000.  wow......I also thought there were only 5 racing lanes in Victoria.  Are they running with 12 per heat now.....since there will be "dozens" of big colourful boats?
