Hey All
Today's False Creek race today was excellently run. I like to thank all the event organizers, dockmasters and volunteers. It was a fun experienced for my team, we bonded really well and enjoyed the race very much. All the newbies on my team all said that it was an exhilirating experience. One that nobody can truly get unless you actually race one.. they can't wait for the Alcan festival and Victoria Richmond and Kelowna.
One a second note, I know that today's race was just a simple race and all. It is all suppose to just be for fun ... even the race organizers were emphasizing that fact. But i can't help but feel dissapointed that a few teams began stacking their Rec team in the lower Divisions with a few ringers off of their Comp team in the Final Divisional Championship Races.
I'm not pointing fingers at anybody but I do like to tell people outside of the dragonboat world that I think Dragonboat is one of the best and most honourable sports. I mean, where else can I meet a huge groups of people from all over and really get to socialize and chug beer with them. I don't want to tell people that this wonderful international sport has even a remote dishonourable feel to it and that the teams that deserve to win can lose to such tactics. The newbies on my team were surprized when they saw this.
But like one of my teammates said today's race was all for a certificate... it doesn't mean much. But i feel that if i was on that rec team and some one else took my spot... i mean.... if i came out to all the practices, paid my practice fees and then get shafted on race day. I would say Adios.
What do u guys think?
thanks for reading

I think some of the teams are doing this only because they don't have enough people on their roster to fill 2 boats...
