Anyone want to make Alcan predictions?  Are the Dreadnoughts going to be the Cinderella story of Alcan?

1) Kia Ikaika
2) One West Red
3) Gorging Dragons
4) FCRCC Premier
5) CIBC Imperial Dragon
6) One West
7) DH  Beats
8) Dreadnaught

It will be an all Canadian Finals.

And for the Open Race....most definately One West/CIBC.

Also..some food for thought..has the last team to start the guts and glory ever beat the first team to start?  (regardless of boat type)  Is it even possible?

Looks like the strongest lineup at Alcan for some years. I think you got most of the fast teams listed although a little birdy says to watch out for Bang...

Correction.... It won't be a all Canadian Finals.  Kia is from Portland.

Also... who the shoe is Bang?

We could be hearing the US Anthem this year...

There were a lot of sub 2min times today.   A lot more than I've seen in years.

No surprise with that big flood tide. If the westerly starts to blow this afternoon, look for extremely fast times for the finals.

It was really great to start the first days of summer with great racing and awesome weather!

I watched the last three finals: Rec A, Comp B and Comp A finals and all boats appeared to be well seeded.  The boats in each heat were spaced no more than a half a boat length apart.   Great job G2G Management as always!

To One West...a dominating performance this weekend taking top spot in the Open, Women, Mixed and both GandGs.    I'm glad I was able to give you a little extra motivation with my second place prediction this year.  Smile  To a female paddler on One West... I guess you didn't take up my challenge of paddling backwards to give us a chance during our race together.   Razz

To all Cali teams..thanks for coming....the festival wouldn't be the same without you. Enjoy the rest of stay in Vancity and have a safe trip home.

To the Windy Pandas from London....hope you had a great time in Vancouver. I wonder if the caller from Starbucks Waverunners knew there were fellow brits on site?

To Skinny Fish: Adversity will make you stronger.

FCRCC premier... Nice to see Mr. Useful excelling within the fcrcc program.

To all other teams...have a great summer and keep paddling!

Results compared to pre-race seeding (i.e. actual versus pre-race predictions):

Code:
Finish  Seed    Team
                (Competitive A Championship)
1       1-12    One West Red
2       1-12    Gorging Dragons
3       1-12    FCRCC Premier
4       1-12    CIBC Imperial Dragons
5       1-12    KAI IKAIKA
6       1-12    One West Black
7       1-12    Dreadnought
8       1-12    BANG
                (Competitive B Championship)
9       1-12    Portland Fire Dragons
10+     13-24   San Francisco Bay Area Dragons
11      1-12    Dragon Hearts Beat
12+     13-24   Team Vortex
13      13-24   Bridge City Blitz Blue
14      13-24   Starbucks Waverunner
15-     1-12    Pemberton Bald Eagles
16      13-24   Anniemaniacs
                (Recreational A Championship)
17-     1-12    Dragon Hearts Ultimate
18+     37-48   AeroDragons Dragon Boat Club
19      13-24   FIRSTAR Creakside Masters
20      13-24   Sudden Impact Black
21+     61-72   Catch 22
22      13-24   Swordfish
23+     25-36   EDBRC - Got Pho?
24      13-24   Killer Guppies Gold
                (Recreational A Consolation)
25-     13-24   Skinny Fish Paddling Club
26      25-36   LARD
27+     37-48   Concord Pacific Flying Dragons
28      25-36   Grandragons
29      25-36   San Francisco Dragon Warriors
30-     13-24   Team LifeScan
31      25-36   Save on Food Dragonslayers
32+     37-48   Dragon Hearts Thunderbreaker

Pre-race seeding is based on first race lane:
4 = 1-12
5 = 13-24
3 = 25-36
6 = 37-48
2 = 49-60
7 = 61-72
1 = 73-84
8 = 85-96

+/- next to finish number indicate finish higher/lower than the pre-race seeding range.

The biggest "misses" in the pre-race seeding for the high-finishing teams were that Catch 22 and AeroDragons Dragon Boat Club were significantly underestimated.
