Thanks to VOS for a great event on Sat/Sun.  To be able to get out and try the OC6 and have a great race was fantastic. I know a lot of hard work went into the event and congratulations to VOS (Pogue Sports) for pulling it off.

Are the results going to be posted?

Again thanks,

Thanks.... Very Happy   Not bad pics from a phone.   Unfortunately it isnt very good for the long distance shots.  It was too hard to make anything out for all the shots I took at the turns.  I'm sure the professional shots will be great.

Being a noob at OC, I was happy to have gotten a chance to paddle on Sunday.
The real work looks like it was done on Saturday, sorry to have missed it.
Dan Kirchner captured some truly awesome athletes, check it out --> http://www.golivelife.com/photography

Are there more pics of Sunday hanging about in the phones and cameras that were abundant?

Thanks

Sunday August 9th Vancouver Sprint Outrigger Clinic by Right Angle Performance

Our sprint season will be starting September 12th with Delta Sprints.. so the timing is great!

The Vancouver date is coming up.  This clinic will be Sunday August 9th at Burrard Civic Marina from 11:00 am-5:00 pm.  We will work on turns, seat roles, starts, warm-ups and, if there are enough participants, V-12 (2 OC-6 hulls attached by i’akos with no ama, an event raced at Worlds).

We reserve the right to decrease to one coach up to two weeks before the clinic if participant numbers are insufficient so please sign up soon!

Much thanks to FCRCC, Pogue Sports and Pacific Reach for equipment donations and CORA.

To register and for more details, please go to:

www.rightangleperformance.com under the tab “2009 Clinics”

Coaches:

Kamini Jain

Kamini has been competing in paddling for 25 years, which has included competing in kayak in the 2000 and 2004 Olympics, many international dragon boat titles and 5 medals at the 2008 World Outrigger Sprints including a World record in the masters women’s V-6 1000m, teamed with Cheryl.  For the last five years, she has focused on coaching paddlers to international success through the FCRCC High Performance Dragon Boat Program which has born World Champion dragon boat paddlers, World Sprint Outrigger medalists and the FCRCC Sprint Outrigger crews that have been enjoying success in this season’s CORA distance series.  Kamini was the coach of the 2008 Canadian Sprint Outrigger Team in 2008 and, again, will have the role in 2010.

Cheryl Skribe

Cheryl was one of the original dragon boat and outrigger paddlers in FCRCC, being there when the two sports arrived in Canada in the late 1980’s.  Since that time, Cheryl has had national and international success in many paddling disciplines.  In recent years, her focus has been outrigger canoe, spending time in Australia and Hawaii honing her skills and fitness with these outrigger power houses.  As a result of her tenacious training, she has a win and second place finish in the coveted Molokai-to-Oahu OC-6 crossing as well as wins in the OC-2 and OC-1 Molokai-to-Oahu relays.  Last season, she steered her V-6 and V-12 crews to 5 medals at the 2008 World Outrigger Sprints including a World record in the masters women’s V-6 1000m.  Her knowledge of steering through both turns and straightaways in sprint outrigger and being able to teach that information to others is unparalleled in this part of the world.

If participation numbers warrant, another coach will be added.
