Nanaimo--tides, wind , estuary currents
Alcan--water (yuck)

Victoria-ferries, crowded with non-partcipating boats of every kind, the Pickle Boat Ballet, toilets and the outdoor Johnny smell that comes with it., a limited sized Beer Garden

Gorge--man its hot with tents on concrete

Etc

All Festivals have drawbacks. What is it that you find a problem?

a limited sized Beer Garden.....!!!!!....it's not the size of the beer garden it's what you do in it
 Shocked

here are drawbacks of festivals so far this season:

deep cove...perhaps next year they can hand out free sunscreen....at the first regatta of the year i always seem to forget something.......and for 2 years in a row HOT AND SUNNY.......and also maybe next year we can race around raccoon island rather than those nice short sprints...what better way to start the season than a good 10km dragon boat race

false creek women's....well that one is obvious...there are just not enough men there...but the problem was well handled this year by the organisers...they put just enough great chocolate in our team goody bags so there were no cat fights when a man cycled by on the bike path!

and then there was whistler....a nightmare from the start...too much choice of green lawn to put the tent on, too many fun opportunities for racing, too much scenery...it was a disastrous weekend....we will only go back next year if they move the beer garden out onto the big lawn by the lake

and nanaimo.....perhaps next year a slip and slide in the beer garden, and maybe move our hotel a little closer to the race site so we don't have to walk 5 minutes to get there, and the commaraderie between those 76 teams needs some work they are just all too friendly to each other!

next harrison....oh i can sense some of these problems will pop up again....but i am looking forward to the afternoon wind that can blow the dog off the chain....giddy up!

until we meet again...enjoy your time

False Creek Regatta:  You come, you race, you go home

Alcan Regatta: You come, you race, you go home.

Alcan Festival: You come, you race, after the beer garden you go home you go home.

Nanaimo:  Enough said on the lane 1 low tide issue.  At least it didn't happen in the afternoon.

Harrison:  Too many races for one day.  Hope this year things work out better then last year.

Victoria:  Harbour traffic.  Brutal when you're marshalling...hurry up and wait.

Kelowna:  Security guards keeping one from going for a midnight dip...
