I need some help guys and gals. I want to buy a new paddle for the upcoming year. Now I have read all the info about carbon this and that and looked on the different manufacturers websites. But what I cannot find is how to know what length of paddle I should be looking at. Is there any rules on how to measure yourself for a certain paddle length?

Any help would be appreciated.

how tall are you?  what length do you use now?  the longest you can use "comfortably", the better.
and now that i've moved around the boat a bit, where do you sit?  you're probably not going to be able to use a 51" paddle very comfortably up in seat 1 unless you have very little bow wake.  i can barely get away with a 50", but thats cause my arms are really long and can lift the paddle high over the bow wake.

Ok...here I go again ....get a adjustable *EDIT* Apex ( oops) carbon ...reasonable price and you can adjust the length to whatever you want ........beats the hell out of buying a blade only to find out it short or too long ...thats sucks !

i think he's on crack and meant apex.   although burnwater is rumoured to be coming out with an adjustable as well.

sorry to lean off topic.

speaking of which... some paddlers i know are doing a ZRE group buy.
they are 8 short from the minimum 20 to get a 20% large group discount.

this is off the regular price as posted on western canoe and kayak:  http://www.westerncanoekayak.com/

The group buy price of 20+ people are as follows (prices do not include tax):

Dragon Boat Paddle - full carbon w/palm or T grip:  $157
Dragom Boat Paddle - full carbon with carbon palm:  $174

Outrigger Paddles
Full Carbon Power Surge OR Light:  $245
Full Carbon Power Surge OR Medium:  $222
Full Carbon Outrigger Medium:  $200

Zaveral are known to make excellent paddles.  PM me if you are interested.

ZRE also offers a carbon T-grip which is not yet on their website.
