A dragon boat team from Greater Victoria has made a name for itself on the international stage.
The Gorging Dragons have made the cover of the summer 2004 issue of Dragon Boat World - a publication that's distributed in 24 countries around the globe.
"For the first time that I've ever heard of, the Victoria athletic community is being spotlighted in that sport," said Doug Caton, Gorging Dragons committee co-ordinator. "It's my sixth year in it and I've never seen like this. There's never even been a mention of a Victoria team before - rarely even a Canadian team."
The Gorging Dragons made the cover after placing third in the 430-metre and 200-metre mixed division categories at the World Club Crew Championships in Cape Town, South Africa in April.
