All we know is that FCRCC Mixed won with the Gemini's and I think Capital Iron won with the 6-16's

The Guts and Glory race results are under review and will be posted when they are official.

Thought so.  I hope they sort it out quick.  I know there wasn't repeat of last years, what with having one too many guys.  I checked for myself.

When I was off-loading, a guy on a team (winning Gemini I think) was complaining they may have been disqualified for taking the inside of a corner when the outside boat had right-of-way.

Maybe that's what they're looking at, i hope they don't get the win taken away however.  That would suck, they deserved the win with the speed they had in that Gemini.  I should know, I was in the #1 boat while they  passed us at the very end.  They were the last Gemini to leave the start line, made us look like we were going backwards!

I'm hearing (not confirmed, pure rumor) that Capital Iron Dragons had some Gorgin Dragon paddlers on their 6-16 boat for the G&G race... That may be the reason that the results are not out yet.

I recall Steamroller Moaner telling me that Gorging wasn't present in the Guts N Glory... I was already on the water at the time so I didn't notice anything outside my boat as we were lining up. Can anyone confirm this?

This is off the Eastern db board, which suggests that they mixed the two teams in the GG race...   It looked like there were some Gorging Dragons on the stage afterwards with the Capital Iron paddlers.

The Guts & Glory race actually had two winners, one in each type of boat. Of the 18 teams that qualified for the race, 9 were placed in Geminis and 9 were placed in 6/16's.

FCRCC was the fastest team in a Gemini, while the Capital Iron Dragons (Victoria) were the fastest team in a 6/16. I don't know their times because I didn't see the results posted, but I did get to see the trophy (along with free entry to next year's race) awarded to these two teams.

Anonymous it was the gorging dragons combined with some capital iron members that won the 2000 in the 6/16 category their time was 9:51

I just watched a video a friend took of the G&G... It looks like FCRCC took the inside of the buoy and smoked Pac Reach... Does anyone have a video with a different perspective? Might just be the angle of the video...

I recall watching a drummer wearing Gorging Dragons jersey (black and gold?) blow past us at the end.  The paddlers I could see, however, were wearing sleeveless grey and blue tees (Capital Iron's colours, yes?).  I wish I had stood up to see the paddlers on other side of the boat.

Yup, offical results are out now and it looks like FCRCC was penalized 30 secs for doing just that. Yet somehow they still managed to come in first among the Geminis. dang...

Key to this race is definately the corners, it's amazing how much extra time it takes if you go through a wide turn.

Thought I'd share a message I got regarding the FCRCC collision that costed them 30 seconds.. yet they still won the G&G

I was on the boat (Pac Reach) when we did get 'smoked' by FCRCC. My coach yelled at their steerswomen to hold her boat 3 times. He was very clear and very loud, but none the less the girl in our 4 seat got hit in the arm by their boat. We ended up getting hit twice by FCRCC in that turn. My coach did try to protest the collision but was informed that there are no definite rules on the guts and glory race so he let it be. I do believe FCRCC would have won this race without taking out teams in the turns they were strong. My team has no hard feelings towards FCRCC paddlers, maybe a few towards their steerswomen. I wish to remain anonymous on this subject but I would like it to be known that this was a dragonboat race for fun not an outrigger race where such bumping is allowed. The rules were very clear on the turns. Maybe just say a little birdie told you

I'm not in favour of the inside boat must slow down and yield rule, though I do understand it's more of a safety rule than anything.

Having said this, any steersperson who would ram their dragonboat into someone's arm should be taken to task.

Did they have safety/referee boats stationed at each corner?
