In 2004, we will adopt a multi-disciplinary approach to our paddle sport coaching conference by including not only Dragon Boat, but outrigger, flatwater canoe and kayak, and surfski.

Yeah, I was thinking of attending this conference last year, but that was before I started working 7 days a week and life went down the crapper...

I'm definately interested in going and will probably get my lazy ass out there for 2004. Of course the Full conference delegate price of $310 is kinda hefty.. plus it doesn't include the Dragon Boat Technical Manual.  The T-shirt and lunch I can skip.

Anyone else interested in attending?

Having been to the conference last year, I highly recommend it if you're coaching a dragonboat team.  The manual is expensive, but is well-worth it...lots of detail and lots of drills to work from.  So if you can invest in it, definitely highly recommended.

Forwarded on behalf of Alan Carlsson from the Dragon North Paddle Sport Conference. This is not affiliated with the Alcan Dragon Boat Festival, but many teams ask us about coaches and/or coaching courses each year, so I am passing on this timely info.

Registration for the 2004 Dragon North Paddle Sport Conference is well under way.

Many courses are filling up fast so please register if you have not done so already.  The conference topics, schedule and registration forms are online at http://members.shaw.ca/DragonNorth

This year we are designing our content around a comparative paddle sport coaching theme.  As such, some courses will compare and contrast paddling in Dragon Boat, outrigger and flatwater canoe and kayak, while other courses will be more discipline specific  By learning from other paddle sports, coaches can only come away better informed, inquisitive and creative.
