The official results for the Dragon Boat Association Races that ran concurrently with the Taiwanese Cultural Festival on Sept. 6th have been posted.

http://dbavanc.tripod.com/DBA_Races.htm

Results are in PDF format.  You'll notice that races were run in fibreglass, teak, and the flag catching boats.  All final races were run with flag catching boats.

The official team of the festival, Naluwan, didn't fare so well in competition.  I don't think they had many practices as a team.

The results of the Group A Final are:

1st - Alcan Alumni Crew
2nd - TCC Carib Dragoneers
3rd - Mercedes Benz Silver Arrows

The Taiwan Cup (well.. that's what the medal they give out calls it) was an interesting "regatta".  Where else could you paddle in a teak, 6-16 fibreglass and a Taiwanese dragon boat all in one day?

The thing I didn't like about it was that it felted like a sideshow (which it was) to the rest of the festival...  well not as much of a sideshow as those Taiwanese guys in diapers Sick

Should be interesting to see how this race is done next year.
