Save on Foods presents the 14th Annual Nanaimo Dragon Boat Festival July 7, 8 & 9, 2017, at the spectacular Maffeo Sutton Park.
The Save-On-Foods Nanaimo Dragon Boat Festival began in 2003 with 20 registered teams and has grown into a premier event with approx. 70 teams participating.
From day one, one main goal of the Nanaimo Dragon Boat Festival Society was to focus on raising funds for imaging equipment to assist in the early diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer at NRGH and supporting the Nanaimo Community Hospice Society . “We are honoured to be recognized for making contributions towards breast cancer diagnosis, treatment and care on Central Vancouver Island,†says Heiko Behn, NDBFS Chair. “ The paddlers, sponsors, volunteers and members of the general public who support this event are the true heroes.â€
The paddlers come together for camaraderie and competition then stay for the Shriners pancake breakfast, food trucks, candle and carnation ceremonies, Longwood Brewery beer gardens, and more.
