Just wondering why we can't have a world championships somewhere in Greater Vancouver?  It would be great to see some international teams (phillipines, china, thailand) and canadian east coast teams here.

It was a real eye opener to see the paddling styles of team Thailand and Team China last year.

I think it was 1996 the last time a Worlds (Club Crews) was in Vancouver.  Canada as a whole will have hosted the most events with 1996 in Vancouver, 2006 in Toronto, and 2015 in Welland so I wouldn't expect either the World championships or Club crews to come back to Vancouver for a while.  Places like Szeged, Hungary (Worlds next year) and Welland have the advantages of having fair courses made for flatwater canoe and rowing events which Vancouver doesn't really have.  The Canadian nationals will be in Victoria next year though if you want to check out the east coast teams

Sitting in the dark last night having a glass of rum and coke.........dreaming of..........

A Rio Tinto Finals with Team China, Philliphines, Thailand FCRCC, One West, 22 Dragons (canadian), Kai Ikaika etc...

It would be "flipping" amazing!!!

Who could pull off an event like this..sponsors...community support...leaders....who has the connections....it wouldnt have to be an official CCWC qualifiier (though it would be helpful)  just get the teams here for some good competition and fun.

Maybe Kate Middleton can make this happen?...she likes dragonboating.....its probably just the alcohol talking

Dreaming.......wishing................

Alcan is always around the time of Duanwu Festival and it will be hard to get the Asian teams away from their home country.

Teamwork is so important that it is virtually impossible for the team to reach the heights of it's capabilities or achieve winning results without becoming very good at it. You must practice TEAMWORK as a team, not as individuals!
