Do you have old, worn, beaten paddles hiding around somewhere that aren't being used and are ready to be tossed?
Dragonzone (False Creek, Vancouver, BC) is looking for donated paddles to shave down to be used in our new youth program. The blades would become skinnier and the shafts would become shorter and narrower for the comfort and safety of our little paddlers.
The program will launch in 2012 and we are looking for upwards to 200 paddles to fix up before March. Dragonzone is non-profit and offers programs for kids from K-12 to introduce them to our sport. Also, we offer this program free of charge to inner-city schools or those who may not afford it at the moment, so we do appreciate the generosity of the paddling community.
If you are an individual who has "retired" from wooden paddles, or are part of a club that has some old paddles lying about, please feel free to contact me and we will gladly take them off your hands. They can be in any condition, I am sure we can make use of them somehow.
