Hi guys,
Our brand new women's crew here in Victoria has a name (Snappin' Dragons) and is out on the water now.
We practice Tues and Thurs 5:30-7pm until the Victoria Festival in August at the Gorge Rowing and Paddling Centre.
Things are looking pretty solid at the moment (~24-26 paddlers) but I'm looking to potentially bring on 2 more women to help keep the roster up for the festivals as we have a couple that need to miss the odd festival - the more the merrier!
Festivals are Nanaimo Jul 9-10, Womens Island Classic Jul 23, Gorge Aug 6 and Victoria Aug13-14. There will be opportunities for additional races, there are also opportunities to outrigger and join our run group if you so wish!
We're aiming for the 20-49 age group to avoid recuiting competition with our 50+ counterparts but I won't exlude people on age if they're a good fit.
Qualities we're looking for - must be fit, strong, enthusiastic, reliable, committed, hardworking, team-oriented, fun to be around, self-motivated to improve, disciplined, up for any challenge and most importantly, as far from a drama queen as possible! I don't care if you have experience or not, it's my job to coach, I'm just looking for the right attitude.
We expect paddlers to show up without baggage, work hard and to the best of their ability and go home tired - simple as that!
We train both sides with a strong technical and injury prevention focus.
