This was sent to me.   Our thoughts and prayers go out to Kim and her family.

DBC is saddened to hear of the loss of John MacGregor, husband of Kim
Tompkins-MacGregor.  We were lucky to have Kim as our Starter at the 2008
National Championships; many of you made her acquaintance at that time.

Please find below the notice of information sent from Water's Edge:

We wish to extend our deep and heartfelt sympathy to Kim Tompkins-MacGregor
and her daughter Samantha on the tragic loss of a husband and father. We are
shocked to hear of John's sudden death and our thoughts and prayers go out
to Kim and Samantha during this difficult time. As many of you know, Kim is
a long time member of the Water's Edge Event Management staff team - many of
you know her as Madam Starter, famous for her amazing starts and calming
voice at Dragon Boat Festivals.  Every member of the Water's Edge Staff Team
is an extension of our family and as Kim and Samantha grieve, we grieve with
them. Kim, Samantha ...our hearts go out to you and your loved ones.

Please find attached a notice of the upcoming celebration of John Angus
MacGregor.

On behalf of Water's Edge,
Jackie & Kat

OBITUARY

MacGregor, John “Angus”; born September 15, 1948 was taken away from us suddenly on September 13, 2009.  He is lovingly remembered by his wife of 20 years Kim and their daughter Samantha. He is also remembered by his brothers Stuart (Kathlyn) and Neil; nephews Christopher, Jeffrey and Patrick, niece Lisa, many relatives and many, many good friends. John will be remembered for putting his family first, then friends and then his work.  He would drop everything to go for a ride. His passion and commitment to the AA program impacted countless lives.  We often heard John say “Suns out, time to go for a ride.” A Celebration of John’s Life will be held on Sunday, September 20, 2009 at 1:00 pm at Victory Memorial Park Funeral Centre 14831 – 28th Avenue, Surrey, BC.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Red Cross Equipment Loaner Program.

On behalf of my daughter Samantha, John Angus' family and myself, I wish to thank you for your kind thoughts and prayers. Thank you to all of you who were able to reach out in person or via email and thank you for the tribute and moment of silence at the Kelowna Regatta. Each of you in your own way have touched my heart and given me a little bit of peace back knowing we are loved and cared for. The dragon boat community of ours is very special, very loving and very giving. I feel honored to be a part of it. Thank you again for your kind thoughts and suport, Kim
