Dragon Boat History in BC Seniors Games
Since 2007, Dragon Boating has been included in the BC Seniors Games as a demonstration sport. This took place with a dynamic partnership forming between GO and the BC Seniors Games Society. This is the only dragon boat race in British Columbia exclusively for dragon boat athletes aged 55+. After two successful years in Nanaimo (2007) and Prince George (2008), it is predicted that the Dragon Boat Racing at the 2009 BC Seniors Games in Richmond will be the best one yet!

GO is pleased to provide the race management for the dragon boat racing. The event features <A HREF="http://www.gorowandpaddle.org/profile/sales_leasing.php?id=2&press=1&draw_column=3:3:2" TARGET="_new">Millennium Dragon Boats[/url] from GO, which are used in the majority of festivals in British Columbia.

Could you define what "Demonstration Sport" means?

Me thinks there won't be medals awarded as it is not a sanctioned sporting event yet. Hence the demonstration status. But I could be wrong.

Teamwork is so important that it is virtually impossible for the team to reach the heights of it's capabilities or achieve winning results without becoming very good at it. You must practice TEAMWORK as a team, not as individuals!

It is not the medals. The website says medals will be awarding in Dragonboating;and they were last year.

In the BC Seniors Games, a demonstration sport is a sport selected each year by the local host society to initiate and promote the sport within the games. This means a demonstration sport has to be chosen each year, instead of being classified as a core/permanent sport. With this said it is really important for a demonstration sport to show a lot of participation from multiple zones - So let's get teams to the event! Medals are awarded for demonstration sports and included in the medal count!
