This just came in my inbox and I thought I'd share with everyone.

In February 2009 the Canadian International Dragon Boat Festival Society is considering putting two boats into the Richmond Yacht Club.  But, we want to find out first, if there is enough interest in this endeavour before we confirm.
If your team is interested, please email [email protected]. Please forward this message to paddlers and teams.

See you all soon I hope.

It looks like it would be 300m north of the UBC Boathouse where the GO Rowing & Paddling Association operates.

Personally I've never liked paddling in that water, but I guess if people need to paddle close to home in Richmond, it could be an option. Might get pretty competitive/ugly with two paddling organizations vying for the same paddlers in such a close radius though. I've never paddled out of the Boathouse so I'm not sure how it is. I'm guessing success there will depend on how much the fees are and what the amenities provided. Of course that is if CIDBFS does put one there.
