There's news coming from the Southern California Dragon Boat Club (SCDBC) that they will be cutting time slots for practicing teams down to one hour to give teams that have entered for just the Long Beach Tournament some water time.

Quote from: SCDBC
In order to accommodate requests from the festival teams for practice times, the current practice schedule will be reduced to one-hour timeslots starting the weekend of June 6th.

A tentative practice schedule is posted at www.ladragonboat.com under “Practice Schedule” – click on the “June6″ tab of the worksheet.

Please let me know ASAP if you are OK with your teams’ listed times or if you need to move to a different timeslot.

With the Long Beach race not till August 1st, that's pretty much two months of one hour practices that competitive teams have to manage with. I remember back in the day with Alcan, that they used to provide practice times for festival teams as well... but that was maybe 4-6 practices in a boat about a month before the festival. Not to turn this into a Competitive Team vs Recreational Team flame war but what does everyone think of this?

You can see the original story at the Ready and Reach website here.

*UPDATE* - Due to the amount of feedback, it looks like the SCDBC has decided not to reduce practice times of their teams.
