2007 ReviewIn 2007, dragon boating was introduced to the BC Seniors Games as a demonstration sport. This took place with a dynamic partnership forming between GO and the BC Seniors Games Society. The event took place September 13 in Nanaimo, at Maffeo-Sutton Park. GO was pleased to provide the Race Management and Milllennium Dragon Boats for the dragon boat racing. Thirteen 55+ dragon boat teams participated and there was great representation from many zones in the province. The mixed championship final was a tight race between GRPC United (Zone 1), Sunshine Dragons (Zone 2), and VCKC Grey Herons, with GRPC United taking the win. The Women’s Championship was another great race between Cowichan Valley Vintage Dragons (Zone 1), Women of the Waves (Zone 2), and the Golden Dragons (Zone 5). The last race of the event, the Vintage Dragons ended up taking this one.
