not hard apparantly ( people have been doing it for yrs ) ......all you have to do is hide in a container (w/ your paddle) and when they unload it off the freighter onto the dock make a run for it

Perhaps you can claim refugee status.

Or list your occupation as "exotic dancer" on the immigration form.

Seriously, does one have a to be Canadian to race on this master's crew? This team is not representing Canada but instead a club. Who knows the real scoop on this issue? Tiger, Guido???

you have to be canadian ....... and be on the roster and compete with the team .Its the club crew they are going for so you would have to be from BC .Now if this was for Russia in 2009 then it could be Canada wide

Wouldn't you need to be a member of, and practice with, the CLUB to be on a CLUB Crew? Isn't that hard to do if you don't live in the same country, province, city? Are the Clubs this needy? Seems kind of a ridiculous category to race under if the rules are that lax.

Greg Lamb would have all the definitive answers. If you really need to know try contacting him through Water's Edge.

apparently not ..........in the last club crew teams used paddlers from around BC ......... some Vancouver teams allowed paddlers from Victoria to race with them as long as they did make some practices and did time trials but they kept it to BC

ALSO at the last club crews.... there was a "Jamaican" team made up of GTA paddlers.

yeah it was a bit of a joke........the Toronto team failed to qualify to go to the club crews so they then decided to enter based on their ancestral background which was Jamaican born Chinese claiming they were going to bring dragonboating to this country.........hopefully they closed that loophole but something gives me the feeling they haven't

"Some practices", Vancouver to Victoria is one heck of a commute for an hour or two practice. Wonder how the local club members who made "most" of the practices felt about loosing their seats?
Seems like it's a mockery of a CLUB CREW ideal. Shame really, it seemed like a good, new championship that appears to be going down the tubes rather quickly with these kinds of loop-holes and lack of control.

The team members knew before what the plan was and that was to put forward the best crew they could within the rules and they did just that ........Everyone had their fair chance
And yes the rules need to be tightened up for the future but its a tough thing to try to control . How can you stop someone that lives a little ways away and wants to make the effort to attend and do the time trials from being part of the crew ?? ...They worked just as hard as everyone else and brought what was needed to grab a seat .
