......... I'm trying to beat them down mentally too !! lol .....just kidding....in all fairness these posts are not mean't in a negative way .No matter what team your with train hard and give it everything you have and hope that it all comes together on the day you have been training so hard for .
A good tight race in Calgary would be awesome and I'm sure it will be ..........

actually DWW looked pretty strong at the sprints. even though FCRCC came out on top it's only by a second. now with that said... even without the top A team it's still a very interesting challenge. a race is a race... it's anyone's game... don't underestimate the competition.
a second is a long time in top level competition.
i agree with the last bit completely. a race is a race, you duke it out with what you've brought to the "battle field"/race course. saying "well if the top paddlers who COULD have made it were actually paddling, we would have won by more" makes about as much difference to the outcome of the races that have finished as one less grain of rice in the meal i had last week would make to how full i was at the end of the meal. (used that example cause i'm hungry)

The shorter the race, the tighter the gap, nothing new here.
With the turnout and no shows, this race was probably too early, try for mid-May next year. Otherwise it's an ideal season opener.

No one is knocked down mentally but would Fcrcc be knocked down if they would of lost? probably not.Fcrcc has always been a guage for teams for years and it should be this way since they are the best around hands down. But does that make the rest imtimidated? No,every great team doesn't win every race or every competition you lose at some point weather you had your A team or your national team.Everyone loses at some point. That's why we all compete for that moment.

Ahhhh...............glad to see the new ONLINE season is starting ,lol. Note it said
just kidding
!
Anyway....all I said was don't gauge yourself on that race .......if you shoot for a certain time w/ your team you may be short if your trying to compare .Do the best you can and bring everything you have and push your team to its best ever performance .........thats all .
Your right everyone can and will lose at some point and then we learn from it .Some of the best races I have ever been in were ones where we did not win . In Montreal the team I was with ended up 5th ( I think ) over-all and that was 1 of the best A final races I have ever been in .Also have been in a boat that was leading in Calgary only to unfortunately spin out near the finish and lose ..very very heartbreaking after you consider how hard the crew trained .....for a year prior to going into that event .........anything can happen and it may

its going to be a great event to attend, whether you're there to race or there to watch.

There will also be other teams from out here attending Calgary for the general festival, not just for "the big show". Its going to be a great weekend definitely.

As with most venues, there are local "track" conditions to consider. Calgary's course has a bit of an underwater stream flowing somewhat perpendicular to the lanes. We've seen unsuspecting steerspeople lose it time and time again.
See you all soon! Hopefully it stops snowing by late August.

It was more the boats I believe .We weren't used to the steering on your boats and as your aware they are very touchy but this time around I believe the "big show" will be BUK's from what I understand .....so most of the steersman have lots of time in them

Alcan should be a better indication of where the teams stand in the west. As for Calgary, I wouldn't count on too many teams from the East coming out. The costs are pretty high to get a whole team out to Calgary.
