There are two great races in Portland this year:

1) The Portland-Kaohsiung Sister City Association’s (PKSCA) Rose Festival race in June
2) 2007 Portland Dragon Boat Race sponsored by DragonSports USA in September.

I have received some questions about the 2007 Portland Dragon Boat Race and would like to add the following clarifications and comments.

Race Dates:
1) PKSCA Portland Rose Festival Race: June 9 and 10, 2007

2) 2007 Portland Dragon Boat Race: September 8 and 9, 2007

Race Location:
Both races will be held at the Tom McCall Waterfront Park located along the Willamette River in downtown Portland .

Boats Used:
1) The PKSCA race uses the Kaohsiung / Taiwanese style boats

2) The 2007 Portland Dragon Boat race uses Hong Kong style boats

Number of Paddlers:
1) The PKSCA boats utilize 16 paddlers, a steersperson, a caller and a flag catcher

2) The 2007 Portland Dragon Boat Race accommodates 20 paddlers, a steersperson and a caller.  This race does not utilize the flag catcher.

Amenities:
Both races offer a tent space for race teams.

The 2007 Portland Dragon Boat Race will offer food vendors, a beer garden and merchandise booths.

Costs:
1) The race fee for the PKSCA race is $1300 for local teams, $650 for visiting teams.

2) The Race fee for the 2007 Portland Dragon Boat Race is $650 for local teams and $550 for visiting teams.

Portland is a great city for Dragonboat races and both of these races are excellent opportunities for recreational and/or competitive teams.  I hope you will visit Portland for one or both of these races.

Please let me know if you require additional information or have questions regarding the 2007 Portland Dragon Boat Race.
