The following is an email that went out to the teams practicing out of DZ. Most teams should know this already though.

As you know, the construction for 2010 is beginning on the south east side of False Creek hence all the fencing that has emerged in the lots behind DZ over the last month. Please be advised that as of last Friday the parking lots behind DZ are no longer available for us to use while paddling out of DZ. This includes the middle strip where we've all been parking for the last couple of weeks. New signs have been posted and we've been informed that the lot is being patrolled by Buster's. Watch out! We've been very fortunate to have had these lots free of charge for all these years and it looks like we now have to explore other options for access and parking to DZ.

It looks like our little club house will still remain in its current location for the time being. The GM of Alcan is in communication with Translink, Easy Park and Science World to see if a parking solution can be worked out for DZ paddlers. We will keep you posted on the progress of these discussions.

In the meantime, here are some parking options:

  • Park on 1st, Ontario, 2nd, Quebec or anywhere else you can find street parking that is free but requires a short walk.
  • Meter parking on 1st Ave.
  • Pay park at Science World or Easy Park just off of Quebec street. (the rate at Science World is $3/2hrs)

As more options become available we'll be certain to let you know.

Please look for another email to follow with some other DZ information.
