The IDBF sanctioned boat is the one used for Corporate Crew Championships, Club Crew Championships, and World Championships. The Shanghai situation has more to do with politics me thinks, and I could be wrong, then what the IDBF wants. Because there are now 3 different IDBF sanctioned boats in Canada, with possibly a 4th coming, I would imagine both DBC and the USDBF will only use these boats for sanctioned races.

This is not stating that the 6-16 boat is no a worthy craft, just that it does not conform to IDBF rules. All sports have rules in place. This is why there are rules regarding paddle dimensions and boats.
