The FCRCC Spring Knockout will be held on Saturday, May 2, 2020!

This popular Knockout event sells out each year where teams will race two 200 meter heats to qualify into one of several similar-times“Knockout Divisions”, and then a 200 meter semi-final to determine placement& ranking in a Knockout Division. Each Division’s final will be a Knockout series of 200 meter races. All teams will be in the first final race; the bottom team(s) in that first final race will be knocked out. The survivors will have 5 minutes to return to the start line – and then race again. The Knockouts will continue until there is only one team left standing (or more likely, slumped over & gasping for air …)!

All teams in the Mixed Regatta and Knockout are guaranteed at least FOUR races.

Teams can enter additional crews for Women’s Knockout (limited to 14 crews).  Women’s ONLY Knockout Round the payment of $150.00 plus GST - At least one race is guaranteed.    For the FULL Dragon Boat Regatta be sure to register for the Mixed Regatta and Knockout (guaranteed minimum of 4 races).

The cost for Early Bird (prior to March 2, 2020) is: Adult $650 plus GST, Junior or Grand dragon $500.00 plus GST.  The cost for Regular Registration is: Adult $725.00 plus GST, Junior or Grand dragon $575.00 plus GST.

REGISTRATION IS NOW OPEN AT https://thriva.activenetwork.com/Reg4/Form.aspx?IDTD=7007642&RF=7309302

We look forward to seeing you there!

Cheers.

**NOTE**You must be 39+ in the year of competition in order to qualify to paddle.

FCRCC is building a contiguous competitive program for both genders in all age groups from juniors all the way through to SrC.

Currrently we have an extremely successful mixed Premier and SrC mixed program and most recently SrB women (Who, as a brand new team just built through late 2018 and early 2019 raced at Nationals in July of this year and qualified to attend IDBF Club Crews in France of 2020!!!  We came in 4th place out of 15 teams in our category!) This is testimony to the world class coaching our club has to offer.

We are looking to continue to build on this success with mixed and women's crews in all categories.

Hi, I’m Dave Wong and I am currently the of coach 3 teams; Max Storm (dragonzone), Saggin’ dragons (FCRCC) and Braggin dragons (ubc boathouse) during the spring/summer season. I’ve been coaching for 7 years now and have been a competitive paddler for 10 years on teams like dragon hearts Magnum, FCRCC and One West who became world champions at club crews in 2014.

I have coached at all levels from rec D all the way to comp A and I place emphasis on making improvements both as a team and individually irregardless of athletic ability, skill or experience level. I prefer to coach while paddling on an OC but will jump into the boat occasionally to see how it is feeling and am able to steer as well.

I’ve retired from competitive Dragonboat racing as my focus now is on OC1 distance paddling and coaching Dragonboat because I still enjoy being active in the community. I am available for the fall and winter months but could also take on one more team for the spring/summer season. If interested, please contact me and we can go from there.

Thanks,

Dave

Vancouver Aquatic Center Indoor Huli Clinic – Saturday, Feb 1, 2020

A great way to start the New Year is to spend an evening doing a warm water huli recovery with teammates and fellow paddlers.  Sign up to come and practice the OC-6/OC-1 huli recovery in coached sessions.  It is always a great idea to learn and practice this skill under supervised and safe conditions so you are ready if the real thing should occur.  This is a once in a year event, so don’t miss out on this opportunity.  Come alone or with your teammates.

Date:  Saturday February 1, 2020
Time: 9:30 pm - 11:30 pm
Cost:  Members: $25.00  Non-Members $40.00
To register, please go to the following link https://thriva.activenetwork.com/Reg4/Form.aspx?IDTD=7007642&RF=11711324
