Performance Cooking Workshop: Athlethes work with a Sports Dietitian in the kitchen in order to create nutritious, quick, tasty recipes and culinary skills that will help them put sport nutrition education into practice. This hands on workshop also provides an interactive venue for learning about nutrients, new meal ideas, food choices and experimenting with new and old foods. When: January 22, 2014 Time: 6 pm to 830 pm Where: TBA Cost: FCRCC Members - $15. Non-members - $20. Who: Joanna Irvine is a Registered Dietitian who holds a degree from the University of British Columbia in Food and Nutrition and is a member of the College of Dietitians of BC and Dietitians of Canada. She has worked as a nutrition specialist in sports nutrition, extended care, mental health and as a consultant in private practice. Jo helps provide and teach the skills athletes need to achieve optimal performance. Jo offers an evidence-based, personalized and practical approach to counseling for sport performance and fitness. She has worked with a number of high performance athletes and teams including BC Gymnastics, Vancouver National Swim Center, the Whitecaps residency program as well as a number of provincial and national level athletes. Jo's own involvement in a variety of sports ranging from skiing, volleyball and long distance running has contributed to her interest in sports nutrition. Her passion for sport and fitness, combined with her extensive educational background in sport nutrition allows her to understand the unique nutritional requirements of an athlete.
