Title: Drum for a Millenium Post by: islanddragon on February 20, 2013, 10:56:17 PM Can anyone tell me if there is a supplier in either Vancouver or Vancouver Island that supplies dragon boat drums, new or used, that will fit either a Millenium or BUK dragon boat? Apparently the ones used on the 6/16's are too wide.
Any info would be much appreciated. Typically the larger boats use 22 or 24 inch drums whilst the smaller boats use a 18 or 20 inch "lion dance" drums. Lion dance drums are different than traditional "dragon boat" drums, nobody in western Canada use traditional dragon boat drums which are tall and narrow as opposed to lion dance drums which ht & width are approx. equal.

I only found this: A drum in a traditional Chinese style attached to the DECK above the GUNWALES at the front of the BOAT and intended to be beaten by a DRUMMER during racing. http://dl.dropbox.com/u/135293428/IDBF_Spec_Boat_Tech_Manual-A.pdf (http://dl.dropbox.com/u/135293428/IDBF_Spec_Boat_Tech_Manual-A.pdf) link from http://www.idbf.org/library.php (http://www.idbf.org/library.php) |
