Title: FREE Ongoing run & strengthening clinics in Vancouver Post by: mandachan on January 24, 2012, 04:14:22 PM Wanna be part of an eating group with a running problem?
The Tuesday Nighters Food and Run Club was started by a small group of dedicated people who currently meet every Tuesday night, rain or shine, to enjoy 2 activities we love doing: running and eating! Running takes up so much energy that the body needs to refuel right away. So, after every run we go out together and enjoy a hearty meal consisting of anything from Vietnamese pho, to Mexican soup, to sushi. Motivated by the prospect of these delicious rewards, we meet the following week to hulk-smash any self-doubt that may be forming around our rock hard abs. Do you ever have back or neck pains, as though you slept in a cardboard box the night before? Perhaps sometimes you feel a bit off, as if one leg is longer than the other, or one shoulder is lower than the other. Chances are, you may be part of the population that is suffering from an asymmetrical body. Dragonboaters, you are most certainly part of this population! Before you start looking (and feeling) like Quasimodo, get yourself on the track for some body-balancing, strength conditioning exercises. Yes, this includes lunges, squats, hills, and, well, running. But trust us - when you become a senior citizen, you'll thank your young self for taking care of your body. You'll be able to point with your non-dominant hand and laugh at your competitors who just couldn't find the time to run with us on Tuesday Nights. The great thing about our group is that we’re a group - always motivating each other to achieve new personal bests, and at our own pace! Your body is a wonderful thing, but it needs to be taken care of. Think of your body as a machine and that these Tuesday Night runs are little tune-ups. Take care of yourself now so you can enjoy the good things in life later on (ie: your chiseled abs and the ability to outrun a coyote if need be). Feel free to ask the specialists of the Tuesday Nighters Club and get the answers you need to help prevent injuries before they happen. If this is an eating group with a running problem, where does the eating part come in? Well, after every session, everyone is invited to dinner together, whether it be at a local restaurant or a teammate's place. Regardless, it is always good, wholesome food with lots of variety. Sometimes, we also attend food events together, such as Greekfest or Poutine Day. Bonding over a warm meal after a cold run is simply amazing - and really, could one have too many friends? Joining the Tuesday Nighters means you get: - top-notch coaching from a certified natural running form coach! - to meet literally the coolest people on Earth! (possible bias here) - to learn how to prevent injuries while exercising! - to run with a group - things are always better when you aren't suffering solo! - to strength train without using smelly gym equipment! - to try out a bunch of different foods you'd normally pass on! - a chance to earn your very own Tuesday Nighters Club T-shirt! - IT. IS. ENTIRELY. FREE. And the best part? You get to have fun! No boot camps, no drill sergeants, no pressure, no silent tears and muttering "why am I doing this to myself?". None of that - you get to have fun doing something healthy, exciting, and satisfying! Now you may be asking yourself, how do I join such a fantastic group? It's simple, all you have to do is email [email protected] and say you're dropping by. Then meet at the track at Point Grey Secondary School at 41st & West Boulevard (in Kerrisdale) at 6pm EVERY Tuesday, rain or shine. It's never too late to start, any age and any skill level is welcome. Come and make some friends! Bon appetit! |
