Title: Dragon Boat Stamp Post by: DBWTim on November 21, 2009, 11:42:21 PM Any budding artists out there that would like to have a chance for their artwork to be used on a Canadian stamp?
Quote Each year an Asian-Canadian artist is commissioned to create an original work in a traditional art or craft, e.g. pottery, embroidery, papercut, etc. This artwork is then photographed and used on the international rate stamp and souvenir sheet. Since 2012 is the year of the Water Dragon, my idea for that year's artwork is to create an original dragon boat head. I'm looking for an Asian-Canadian artist / craftsperson who can design (under my supervision), carve and paint the head in a traditional Chinese style. Any artists who might be interested are invited to send photos of their work to me at the email address provided. Thank you in advance for your assistance Cheers, Louis Here is my contact info: Louis Fishauf studio 905-726-1597 mobile 905-726-0827 www.fishauf.com www.fishaufdesign.vze.com Title: Re: Dragon Boat Stamp Post by: Fisher on November 26, 2009, 09:36:59 PM Check out the photo section at www.616.ca

Title: Re: Dragon Boat Stamp Post by: Dr. Evil on November 29, 2009, 03:00:29 PM Check out the photo section at www.616.ca Wow....looks like Vincent Lo at 6-16 took off 5 feet & 2 rows of seats and is now building IDBF spec Dragonboats....20 seater, 500lbs, foot braces & carry handles to boot. Would be nice to take one out for a spin. Perhaps we should finally say goodbye to the gemini's & get a fleet of these re-designed 6-16's! :) Title: Re: Dragon Boat Stamp Post by: glowing_ice on December 21, 2009, 02:09:58 PM just curious what this guy means by "under my supervision". if this is a public commission then anyone can create and submit the work under their own name.
maybe i'm paranoid... but this guy looks like he might want to take credit or $$$ for other peoples efforts and creative ideas. Title: Re: Dragon Boat Stamp Post by: NFW on December 25, 2009, 10:39:25 AM sounds about right lol
example scenario: Artist: *creates something unique* Artist: There, It's done, cool huh? Supervisor: Looks awesome, here..I'll submit it for you. Supervisor: *tweaks the design in a very minor way* ie. move a font slightly to the left, or tweak the angle of the design 2 degree Supervisor: *submits* Stamp finally comes out for sale, Designer: Supervisor and Artist. happens more often than you would believe haha |
