Title: Victoria DB Fest fundraising results Post by: Katy on August 18, 2009, 09:56:57 AM Hi guys,
As there are a lot of Victoria teams that don't know about the accompanying pledge drive for BC Cancer Foundation with the Victoria Dragon Boat Festival, I thought I'd forward this year's results info from the BCCF. As a cancer researcher I can vouch for how important fundraising efforts like this are and how impressive it is to see the amount of money raised by these 5 crews. Hopefully next year we can get even more teams involved! Anyway, here's the e-mail... Dear Dragon Boat Paddling Team Captains, I would like say a heartfelt thank you to you and all your team members and everyone who supported your teams. You have done an amazing job in raising $21,659 (as of this morning) in support of BC Cancer Foundation for cancer care and research at BC Cancer Agency's Vancouver Island Centre. That's close to $6,000 more than last year! On behalf of everyone at the BC Cancer Foundation and BC Cancer Agency I'd like you to know that your hard work is very much appreciated. And what a close fundraising race it was between two teams; last year's winner, Blazing Paddles and this year's winner, Paddlers of the 5th Moon! I included the totals as it stands this morning below. You'll note that how important it is that you turn in your donations in time to BC Cancer Foundation! Paddlers of the 5th Moon At award eligibility deadline (Aug14, 9pm) - $7,281.50 As of Aug18 - $7,331.50 Blazing Paddles At award eligibility deadline (Aug14, 9pm) -$7,240.00 As of Aug18 - $7,340.00 Navy Dragon Anchors At award eligibility deadline (Aug14, 9pm) -$2,956.00 As of Aug18 - $2,956.00 Island Breaststrokers At award eligibility deadline (Aug14, 9pm) -$2,347.50 As of Aug18 - $2,347.50 Ageless Warriors At award eligibility deadline (Aug14, 9pm) -$1,534.00 As of Aug18 - $1,684.00 I encourage you to make your drive for fundraising contagious and pass it on to many of the other paddling teams who did not participate in the fundraising in 2010. Your five teams raised $21,659, imagine what close to 80 teams can do in our fight against cancer! Once again thank you for your outstanding efforts. Paddles up! |
