Title: paddleboy vs Kaohao Post by: Kaohao on June 23, 2009, 09:27:11 PM Mens was : Excuses aside, it's pretty amazing that a crew of fairly casual paddlers from Oregon and Washington (hardly outrigger meccas) can go up and beat one the top DB crews, especially w/ zero practice time together. Kai FCRCC Ohana ( I think this is how it was ) It was close between Kai and FCRCC and can't wait till tomorrow as it will be a nailbiter I'm sure .Fcrcc had a mishap during the race w/ 1 of our paddlers slipping off their seat and falling into the boat so we'll have to wait and see in tomorrows final .Kai has a very good team this year and has pulled in some great outside help ( some big names ) so it should be an awesome race if we can all stay in our seats ,lol Title: paddleboy vs Kaohao Post by: paddleboy on June 23, 2009, 10:01:02 PM Hmmmm.........Alan Goto,Laci Budjos ,throw in the former & still national team guys from here and down there ,yeah I guess its not such a strong crew ,what was I thinking  lol .
You know my mixed team is also just a bunch of casual paddlers as well  Title: Re: alcan results ?? Title: paddleboy vs Kaohao Post by: paddleboy on June 24, 2009, 08:00:09 AM I guess if you look at the team members closely you can find some actually raced with us on the National team 2 years ago and are still on the National team and going to Prague .....maybe you didn't know that ,I'll forgive you ,lol
Kai did a great job ,and I'm very happy they finally beat us .....Mulu is a great sportsman .Kai are a great bunch and we really enjoy the rivalery and all this did was make us step it up now . Sometimes when you are always on top you need to get kicked to wake you up so again thx for the wake-up call As for stacking the crew we would gladly welcome this so my suggestion is to bring it on next year . No one is making any excuses just stating what happened in the first race and yes Kai clearly beat us by 3 whole seats ( I think ) I can't remember as I was behind you ,lol .....and from what I recalll.....weren't you behind us in mixed ( almost a boat ) or how about that 2000 ?lol ( kiddin w/ ya ) You know ,come to think of it , I don't recall you coming over and congratulating FCRCC wholeheartedly but thats ok we know you mean't to  Anyway cgrats again to all you guys on Kai ,nice job ,thx !! Title: paddleboy vs Kaohao Post by: NFW on June 24, 2009, 08:18:26 AM I LOL'ed again!
And you still haven't even congratulated them wholeheartedly. You know ,come to think of it , I don't recall you coming over and congratulating FCRCC wholeheartedly but thats ok we know you mean't to  I believe the only way to settle this is to have FCRCC thank Kai wholeheartedly, and then have Kai thank FCRCC wholeheartedly, and then have Kai thank FCRCC wholeheartedly again. Its only fair . Title: paddleboy vs Kaohao Post by: paddleboy on June 24, 2009, 08:37:31 AM I sense a group hug coming msn({)

I was not on the crew. I did notice that before that last post you had A)made excuses for losing, and B)not congratulated the guys who beat you. If you are on that sprint crew you must be a pretty damn good paddler. Now is the time to work on the sportsmanship. BTW, why the anonymity? We're all just paddlers, right? My name is James Clapp and I occasionally paddle w/ Alan and the gang at Sand Point. Kai did a great job ,and I'm very happy they finally beat us .....Mulu is a great sportsman .Kai are a great bunch and we have really enjoy the rivalery and all this did was make us step it up now . You people have a lot of talent up there. I think with a good local steersman, you could do well in Molokai someday. I guess if paddle boy is that sensitive about losing, he better stay in DBing. The humbling experience of further competition against far deeper fields of outrigger paddlers might do him some good, though. You people have a lot of talent up there. I think with a good local steersman, you could do well in Molokai someday. Actually that post was posted day 1 in the semi's and it wasn't supposed to be an excuse ,it was just a note as to what took place within the crew on that paticular race I guess if you had of been there you know that FCRCC and Kai always congratulate each other ,win or lose ,either side after the race in "person".We all know each other from the years of racing so we can poke fun at each other and honestly this is is not that huge of a race in comparision to where we are going and have been .Its a gauge for us to help see where we are at and what we may need to change and kai showed us where we need to make a few changes before we head to Prague and this is why I thank them . Fcrcc is comprised of 2 different groups, the distance crews ( outrigger) and sprint ( dragonboat ) crews .The sprint crews tend to also compete in distance to keep the rivalry up within the club and they do very well in some of the big races in the N/West plus its great crosstraining for us . Anyway James ,next year jump on the Kai crew and give us another shot and try to defend their title because we will try once again to take it back and I will personally congratulate you in person win or lose As for me ,I think most know or have met me so no need to post my name on a website but I will tell you in person next year when and if you show w/ kai or whoever Title: paddleboy vs Kaohao Post by: paddleboy on June 24, 2009, 09:47:27 AM This just keeps getting better! Yeah people revealing their real identities n' stuff. The humbling experience of further competition against far deeper fields of outrigger paddlers might do him some good, though. Actually James I race outrigger as well ,both oc6 and oc1 and maybe 1 day you'll get a shot at me but so far I don't think we have competed against each other and I truely enjoy good competition so if I see your name on the race list I'll come and introduce myself . I'll be on my hurricane or my pegasus so it shouldn't be to hard to figure me out :shifty: Title: paddleboy vs Kaohao Post by: Kaohao on June 24, 2009, 09:50:51 AM Nice job of diminishing Kai's victory again, paddleboy. In the future, maybe you'll learn to give an unequivocal, sincere congratulation (haha). I'm aware of the sprint crew's (and Calvin dem's) prowess in the outrigger, having raced against both crews many times since I moved here from Hawai'i in 2004. I don't see myself DBing anytime soon, but maybe we'll see you at Howe Sound or something. Everyone knows you so no sense revealing your identity? Whatevers. Good Luck in Prague, my friend.

Kaohao. Don't mind paddleboy. Just look at his "Disclaimer" in his signature and you'll know why he put it there. FCRCC and Kai are on good terms. Nice job of diminishing Kai's victory again, paddleboy. In the future, maybe you'll learn to give an unequivocal, sincere congratulation (haha). Fun reading though just not relevant to the topic at hand. Thanks all! Title: paddleboy vs Kaohao Post by: Kaohao on June 24, 2009, 10:06:32 AM Jim It's way funner stirring up crap w/ a new crowd. I'd like to try DBing, but hell, we can hardly get six guys to gether for practice. How do you guys do it? If you no like respond, then no respond, braddah. You're a smug bastard, but that can be a good thing for a young paddler! Post by: Kaohao on June 24, 2009, 10:11:21 AM My apologies to any in the Dragon Boating community I may have offended. As you know, we outriggerists will occasionally attempt to disparage our fellow paddlers from the DB world. My bad! I reckon it's all paddling, and it's all good, right?

I am Paddleboy's sister, Kelli, and might I say I sometimes don't always like to reveal that !
Since I didn't race on a team this year I did get to watch the final men's heat and I think I know where Kaohao is coming from regarding congratulating each other. From my view point (yes, in the beer garden) I noticed after the race the Kai team seemed to be waiting by the dolphin markers, perhaps waiting for FCRCC to paddle by to congratulate them. I too was expecting FCRCC to stop and see a congratulations/high five between to the two boats, would have made for a nice pic (I had my camera ready), but I think FCRCC did not notice that they were waiting and continued to the docks. Now I could be totally wrong regarding this. I paddled with FCRCC for two years and the entire clan is great and full of sportsmanship. Now regarding Paddleboy, what can I say... Cheers, Kelli aka Special K Title: Re: paddleboy vs Kaohao Post by: Illuminate on June 24, 2009, 12:06:48 PM FCRCC's a hyper competitive bunch that's gearing up for probably the biggest tournament of their lives half way across the world. I'm sure they were reflecting on what just happened. Kai probably did them a favour in the build up before Prague, they'll be working harder than they would have if they had won
Title: Re: paddleboy vs Kaohao Post by: paddleboy on June 24, 2009, 12:32:34 PM I am not sure how this all got turned into the FCRCC did not congrat Kai thread ........did I miss something along the line ?
We all spoke after and high five'd ,shook hands ,said "great race" , patted each other on the ass  laughed together during the pre race marshalling for the Guts ....what more do you want ,lol not sure where lil sis is going with this one ......... " I GIVE I GIVE ...........UNCLE UNCLE .......YOU WIN !!! Title: Re: paddleboy vs Kaohao Post by: Kai Paddler on June 24, 2009, 02:07:51 PM We are all friends and will continue to be for many Alcan's to come. I think that Kamini's special pink drink offering after the race was enough said. We know that FCRCC is gearing up for Prague and wanted to try to give them a run for their money... that was the goal!
I do want to mention that whom ever bought those shots at the paddlers party made it a long drive home the next day. Paybacks are a B&*^h :) See you next year!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Title: Re: paddleboy vs Kaohao Post by: goto on June 24, 2009, 02:27:00 PM FCRCC,
