Title: Recruiting Paddlers Post by: Boonie on October 21, 2007, 03:00:25 PM We are a team of 20-30 year old paddlers with at least 1+ years of paddling experience (most have 3-4 years) and would like to recruit more paddlers with similar paddling experience for the 2008 season. We have 8-10 paddlers at the moment and are looking for more to fill the boat. We are also looking for an experienced steersperson, caller and a coach.
Last season we made it into the Rec B finals of the Alcan festival despite being a relatively new team. This year we aim to compete in the Rec A division. Expectations from coach: * someone who's willing to teach us * someone who's not too soft, will push us hard to reach our goal * someone who will commit for a couple of years and help develop the team * someone with some coaching experience would be nice * focus on mental conditioning Festivals that we would like to do, most of all local ones and 2 out of town: * Alcan (for sure) * Kelowna (for sure) * Victoria (maybe) * Taiwanese (maybe) * San Fran (maybe) * Nanaimo (maybe) Goals for next db season: * improve on techniques (or learn a more efficient technique) * improve on endurance * come in top 4 (out of 6 teams) in qualifying rounds, top 3 would be preferred * win gold in Rec A division in Alcan * become ambidextrous paddler (applies to all paddlers to give more flexibility with seating arrangements) * commitment from all members for the entire db season Please send me a private message if you're interested.
