Post by: Martini on September 12, 2007, 07:50:00 AM As someone who attended Arizona, and three other Water's Edge festivals this year, I take my hat off to you folks. You always do an excellent job and always have a smile on your faces. Looking forward to seeing you again next year. Maui is sooooo tempting.

*24 spots only* Water's Edge has once again gathered together a team of highly experienced coaches and instructors with a diversity of skill sets in outrigger canoe. Learn from those who paddle and teach in Hawaiian waters daily, as well, gleen tips, tricks and skills fom our Canadian coaches who have a vast amount of experience paddling in these waters. Our team endeavors to inspire participants to confront challenges and overcome limits. More about the camp: The camp will cover instruction in surf and stroke development skills for OC-6, OC-2, and OC-1, including; * How to "read" the water to find the best line, * Using surf to increase hull speed, * Gain more confidence in a variety of water conditions through daily down-wind runs * Increase understanding of how winds and waves affect boat-run Both novice and experienced paddlers will have the opportunity to build their skills in outrigger surfing. Paddlers will have plenty of opportunity to put their newly aquired skills to the test through twice daily on-water sessions. Your week of fun, sun and surf will wrap-up with an Outrigger Surf Challenge amongst both camp participants and instructors followed by a traditional Hawaiian Luau. Post by: glowing_ice on September 12, 2007, 12:31:25 PM wow... this maui paddle clinic is so damn sexy. i hope they release info on the cost soon... *drool*
thanks for the info puppy. Title: Re: Water's Edge Event Management - Wrap up for 2007! Post by: brainiac on September 12, 2007, 08:37:02 PM It won't take much to convince me to sign up for Maui if the stars are correctly aligned. But whether I am able to go or not, one thing I hope they do is introduce people to the Hawaiian cultural traditions that are strongly interwoven with outrigger canoe. FCRCC had a "boat blessing ceremony" the other day for one of our new OC6s and I thought it was pretty neat.
Title: Re: Water's Edge Event Management - Wrap up for 2007! Post by: Kripple on September 12, 2007, 10:38:47 PM I think there's a business to be had doing *several* paddling clinics in Hawaii... Mid Novemeber would be a good time for a clinic as well, as there's no snow yet (not even a Silver Star) making it one of the crappiest months of the year to be in Vancouver...
Title: Re: Water's Edge Event Management - Wrap up for 2007! Post by: brainiac on September 18, 2007, 08:02:38 AM I noticed there's more info on the Maui paddle camp at the Waters Edge web site and the registration date has shifted to September 24th.
Title: Re: Water's Edge Event Management - Wrap up for 2007! Post by: glowing_ice on September 18, 2007, 03:26:56 PM i got a feeling this event will be filled up quickly. 24 spots only... hmm... maybe they can add more spots if it's super popular?!
Title: Re: Water's Edge Event Management - Wrap up for 2007! Post by: rightarm on September 18, 2007, 05:44:50 PM has a cost even been posted yet? I didn't see one this morning. I'm sure that will have a huge affect on how popular it is... on paper it looks amazing, but the almighty dollar makes the difference
