Title: National Club Crews - Teams competing Post by: Dr. Evil on June 28, 2007, 11:35:42 PM Just looking at the list of teams registered to compete in Calgary for NCC in Premier mixed....
FCRCC Calgary Race Club Montreal DBC Gorging Dragons Para Huti Huti Without Warning It'll be interesting to see if Pac Reach registers or not. Does anyone know (or heard thru the rumour mill) if any other teams from back East plan on making an appearance? It's not often where we get the opportunity to race against the Eastern teams. If given the chance, it would be fun! :) Title: Re: National Club Crews - Teams competing Post by: Colossus on June 29, 2007, 12:28:51 AM how are para huti huti?
Title: Re: National Club Crews - Teams competing Post by: StrokeItHard on June 29, 2007, 02:20:51 AM Master's of D-Zone? Formerly Roli Canada =)
Title: Re: National Club Crews - Teams competing Post by: paddleboy on June 29, 2007, 07:17:09 AM Yep....the Masters are entering as a premier team and adding some youth to their roster and are talking they are going to take out FCRCC ........... could this happen ??
Not sure we will see any other eastern teams as TO is the center of the universe and they very rarely travel outside although ScotiaRouge was just in Hong Kong and placed third losing to Macau & Philippine police Title: Re: National Club Crews - Teams competing Post by: Dr. Evil on June 29, 2007, 07:21:37 AM how are para huti huti? They're suppose to be the best team out of Edmonton. Last year when we were in Calgary, they finished in Div A consolation. Not sure if that was their strongest crew they were fielding. In 2005 we were suppose to race them in the Club Crew qualifiers but they withdrew. They were staying at the same hotel we were. We asked them why they withdrew and they indicated that they couldn't race both the CC qualifiers and the regular festival so they decided to focus on just the festival. They finished 2nd overall to the Calgary Race Club I believe in the regular regatta. From what I have seen from them the last 2 years, I don't think they'll challenge FCRCC, Gorging or Montreal, but I expect they'll be competitive and put up a good fight. Master's of D-Zone? Formerly Roli Canada =) Right Masters, yeah, they've got the Masters spot by acclamation already and are going to compete in the Premier Mixed to get more battle-hardened.Title: Re: National Club Crews - Teams competing Post by: wanker on June 29, 2007, 08:26:45 AM how are para huti huti? In Lethbridge, they got disqualified in the A finals because they didn't follow the race directors' instructions and went around the wrong side of the island. :drink: Of course that was last year - only they know if they have a better or worse team this season. Title: Re: National Club Crews - Teams competing Post by: Aquaman on June 29, 2007, 11:04:23 AM We'll find out next weekend...we will be racing them in this year's Lethbridge Festival on July 7-8. The top Calgary teams, (TopMade, Yahoo, Guardian) should be there, too, so we should get a pretty good idea of how the Alberta teams stack up against each other. Please note that the festival has yet to post a schedule, so I cannot confirm that all of the teams listed above will be there this year, although they were all there last year.

Title: Re: National Club Crews - Teams competing Post by: ADD_Kid on July 06, 2007, 10:53:45 AM Looks like you're going to get your wish. Looks like Imperial Dragons are coming from Toronto. Is the Montreal DBC a mixed, open or a womens crew?
Title: Re: National Club Crews - Teams competing Post by: paddleboy on July 06, 2007, 01:16:11 PM Good to see the Imps heading this way....They have been known to put up some good battles . I think it may be the Montreal women but I'm not completely sure .
Rumor mill is Pac Reach may also jump in last minute ....the more the merrier ! Title: Re: National Club Crews - Teams competing Post by: ADD_Kid on July 12, 2007, 09:45:25 AM Piranhas from Toronto are now signed up as well. After the Central race-off next weekend, there could be even more crews that sign up.
This is shaping up to be a pretty competitive festival. Title: Re: National Club Crews - Teams competing Post by: paddleboy on July 12, 2007, 10:07:47 AM FCRCC is sending a strong B mixed crew to race and women , the A mixed crew & A men will remain in Vancouver to prepare for the World Championships in Australia .
It also looks like the Masters will take a shot in the Premier NCC and opening up the crew and possibly adding youth to the roster to strengthen the team even more ...they should be very strong ...this is the rumor anyway Title: Re: National Club Crews - Teams competing Post by: magicpaddler on July 12, 2007, 01:30:17 PM hey Paddleboy does this mean your not coming. We were expanding the beer bong for ya.
Title: Re: National Club Crews - Teams competing Post by: paddleboy on July 12, 2007, 03:23:08 PM No ,coach gave me a weekend pass ...lol . I'll be racing w/ the Masters so I can be rostered for Malaysia and may possibly give the B team a hand if needed but that has yet to be determined .
Don't worry ... I'll be there for the bong !! and then soon after off to Australia ......I so can't wait !! :woot: Title: Re: National Club Crews - Teams competing Post by: Jets on August 22, 2007, 12:09:52 PM Definitely a much nicer forum for discussions.
Good luck to all teams going to Calgary. It sounds like the race course is fair and the festival is well organized. Lets hope the weather holds out. Title: Re: National Club Crews - Teams competing Post by: Aquaman on August 22, 2007, 01:05:17 PM Per Calgary's web site, there are 12 teams in the National Club Crew Mixed Championship division:
Ampco Grafix FCRCC Premier Mixed Gorging Dragons Pacific Reach SCC Sudbury Team Chiropractic Piranhas Dragon Boat Club Without Warning Para Huti Huti Bullfrog Power Imperial Dragons FC Masters of D'Zone Pond Scum - Seniors River City Dragons Calgary Race Club Pretty stacked field...there should be some fantastic races this weekend! Title: Re: National Club Crews - Teams competing Post by: glowing_ice on August 22, 2007, 03:34:17 PM river city dragons... are they the manitoba team we saw last year at kelowna?!
Title: Re: National Club Crews - Teams competing Post by: Aquaman on August 22, 2007, 05:01:07 PM Yes, they have been the top Manitoba team for a few years now (they paddle out of Winnipeg).
I don't remember them being in Kelowna last year, though...maybe the year before? Title: Re: National Club Crews - Teams competing Post by: rightarm on August 22, 2007, 05:26:00 PM yup they were there... i remember well cuz they edged us out for 3rd in platinum by 0.03sec!
I know there will be lots of attention on the big boys and girls in the NCC's this weekend, but lets not forget the annual festival as well taking place at the same time which is shaping up to have some good competition Blu-by-U, NAVY, and Fresh Impact (FODB / Sudden Impact with some guests) will be there trying to bring the medals home to BC, and will be going head to head with the likes of Crew Yahoo, Guardian (2006 champs), some topmade team (can't tell which one is which anymore), Waste Management, etc. The only team I can't place from 06 is the "HSBC Pure Energy" (or something to that effect) - anyone know the deal with them? its rare to see such a competitive team completely disappear. Title: Re: National Club Crews - Teams competing Post by: RagingDragons on August 23, 2007, 07:07:09 AM I believe HSBC Pure Energy is under the Dragnum name this year.
Title: Re: National Club Crews - Teams competing Post by: Martini on August 23, 2007, 07:42:19 AM HSBC Pure Energy is now known as Dragnum - look for them to make some noise at the festival.
Title: Re: National Club Crews - Teams competing Post by: Viking Paddler on August 23, 2007, 08:32:18 AM Dragnum is definitely looking strong this year, as does the other Calgary teams competing at this years festival. This weekend should have some pretty good match-ups as these teams go head-to-head for hardware. We'll have to see where these medals end up going. Too close to call.
Title: Re: National Club Crews - Teams competing Post by: wanker on August 23, 2007, 09:49:56 AM Agreed about Dragnum. We did a race piece against them earlier in the practice season and saw that they were indeed pretty fast. Or was it that we were slow? Hmm... :P
Title: Re: National Club Crews - Teams competing Post by: rightarm on August 23, 2007, 10:51:48 AM Ah ok! Well then there is another in the list, its going to be some great racing!
Title: Re: National Club Crews - Teams competing Post by: dogpaddle on August 24, 2007, 09:56:45 AM For those of you who are not in Calgary, bring warm clothing. The sun is out but it's still a bit chilly! See you all tomorrow! :)
Title: Re: National Club Crews - Teams competing Post by: Rob on August 24, 2007, 11:46:49 AM It is great to see so many teams from the East. I hope that the teams in the NCC and the Festival will think about traveling to represent the West when the NCC is held out East.
Title: Re: National Club Crews - Teams competing Post by: Martini on August 27, 2007, 08:32:58 AM HSBC Pure Energy is now known as Dragnum - look for them to make some noise at the festival. You heard it here first - Dragnum took the gold in the A Final! Title: Re: National Club Crews - Teams competing Post by: Viking Paddler on August 27, 2007, 12:44:53 PM Hey Martini, ... the Ace is homing in on you as we speak!
Title: Re: National Club Crews - Teams competing Post by: Martini on August 27, 2007, 02:34:06 PM Hey Martini, ... the Ace is homing in on you as we speak!
