scroll down 3/4 of the way......... this is the basic style Title: Re: Info on Paddling Technique Post by: brainiac on June 11, 2007, 11:02:27 PM The PDF doc at the following location has an excellent "checklist" for outrigger and dragon boat paddlers. You might want to modify a few bits to suit your team's style.

I've only been to one of their seminars (for outrigger canoeing), and it was a blast.

Title: Re: Info on Paddling Technique Post by: brainiac on June 12, 2007, 06:51:01 PM Nice video, especially the bit showing the catch (arms drop down) and then the pull (counter-rotation). Some power there. :) These girls look pretty good and have great blend but, just to be an armchair coach, let me try to spot a few bad habits: Seat two (right) is doing a funky elbow bend with her top arm but seems to get away with it. Seat three (right) has a bit of a collapsed side, which is compromising her rotation. She seems to be producing less power. Seat three (left) is hinging too much at the waist, going almost 45%. Seat one (right) looks quite good to me. Anyone have any different ideas?
