Title: Re: Kelowna Results? Post by: fdboi on September 18, 2006, 03:47:27 PM Anybody know how guardian did, looks like they're nowhere near the top whatsoever
Title: Re: Kelowna Results? Post by: Garbage Miles on September 18, 2006, 04:20:12 PM Awesome racing everyone. Water conditions seemed very calm for the whole weekend. The fastest team from Manitoba was definitely very fast. The German crew was very good too. And what's with Shaggin Dragons making Platinum? They weren't on anyone's radar! Maybe they're doing less shaggin' and more paddlin'.  :D
Guardian ended up taking 1st place in the Gold A division, but it looks like they could've been 1 division higher since they were 4 seconds ahead of the other teams in their final heat. Title: Re: Kelowna Results? Post by: zeus on September 18, 2006, 05:18:15 PM well besides "dirty boats", "bad lanes" etc... we got teams here who placed in the top 20 in Alcan being beat by rec C and D teams....so what good are predictions when rosters change so much during the season! i.e. shaggin with 5 top false creek men beats Ultimate by a boat length in their first heat!!!...good for them to feel how a boat can fly, but i cant wait til the standings are made for next year.....
Title: Re: Kelowna Results? Post by: paddleboy on September 18, 2006, 05:30:47 PM I only have a few words I gotsa to say
SSSSSSHAGGIN DRAGONS..... SHA.... SHA.... SHASHAGGIN...DRAGONS say it with my now !! :drink: welcome to the big league peoples ! OMG .......did you see the girls workin it at da club ? HAHA ( I know there are some priceless pictures out there ...feel free to post if you gots them people ) This team loves to display public affection for their fellow teammates  At the beginning of this weekend Shaggin was just another rec team...enter FCRCC ............ As I looked over at the boat on the start line in the final there was SHAGGIN ...no more Miss nice gurls ( drummer now had this " I'm going to kick some serious butt " look on )...... they went from the party animal to intense race face in seconds....I don't know if I can handle the Shaggin crew in Comp A .........its just hard to take them serious ,lol . My understanding though is the gurls have now convinced my crew to convert and race under the Shaggin banner ..... Next year the new team will be known as "We've Been Shaggin FCRCC" - MIXED SHAGGIN DRAGONS..... SHA.... SHA.... SHASHAGGIN...DRAGONS Title: Re: Kelowna Results? Post by: chuieXX on September 18, 2006, 06:29:35 PM what's with all these ringers? swordfish.... shaggin....
i thought there were only ringers in rec hockey?!?!?!?! Title: Re: Kelowna Results? Post by: Colossus on September 18, 2006, 06:37:59 PM what's with all these ringers? swordfish.... shaggin.... teams missing paddlers from a full roster + paddlers wanting to paddle (but their teams not going) = paddlers joining other teams for the festival. i thought there were only ringers in rec hockey?!?!?!?! the reason people end up where they do most of the time, is because they have some sort of connection or relationship with that team previously (such as beer garden commeraderies) and/or they follow friends. Title: Re: Kelowna Results? Post by: Secret Weapon on September 18, 2006, 06:46:47 PM Who wouldn't want to join the Shaggin Dragons with all that free lube they give out! Not a bad way to pick up on the opposite sex. Also what an opportunity for rec level paddlers to experience paddling with some of the finest on the creek. I'm sure it drove many to paddle harder as well and imagine the tips on technique they received. There should be more festivals/clinics where the comp mix it up with the rec and help out. Kudos to those who jumped on 'fun' teams to help out.
Title: Re: Kelowna Results? Post by: kryssee on September 18, 2006, 10:10:11 PM Just noticed on the Kelowna site that they've posted the results. No times tho' :( That's what I really wanted to see. But, they did include the pictures of the finish, and those are pretty neat to see. Here's the link: http://www.kelownadragonboatfestival.com/results/2006/ (http://www.kelownadragonboatfestival.com/results/2006/)

Post by: Dumber on September 19, 2006, 11:26:44 AM Looking at the top tier team photos, other then Jade B, it appeears the races weren't that close at all. :? Lots of lonesome boats at the finish line.
Title: Re: Kelowna Results? Post by: reprocessed on September 19, 2006, 11:34:58 AM Finish line photos are great and all, but times are what people are looking for... The pics only show the first crew across the line.
Can we have the times posted please??? (I know you guys are reading this)... Title: Re: Kelowna Results? Post by: shaggin_savy on September 19, 2006, 01:56:09 PM Yes, the Shaggin's had a few False Creek boys on the team, but they actually came to us. I have to say, having them on really opened our eyes to what it's like being one of the big boys, and I hope we can do it again next year! :D I know that I worked harder and listened to the words of wisdom that they had for us!
Congratulations to everyone for a fantastic weekend of racing, especially those in Platinum, Diamond and Jade. It's always a blast to watch the top teams racing out there. And to Paddleboy, I do not know what you are talking about...public displays of affection. Us???? Neeeveeerrrr... :D Title: Re: Kelowna Results? Post by: rightarm on September 19, 2006, 01:58:27 PM Finish line photos are great and all, but times are what people are looking for... speak for yourself, i like that they thought to post the finish line picsTitle: Re: Kelowna Results? Post by: Secret Weapon on September 19, 2006, 02:20:09 PM Not all of the finish line pics are of the winning team as I noticed a pic in which the winning team must have already crossed the line as it's no where to be seen only the rest fighting it out for 2-6 spot.
Title: Re: Kelowna Results? Post by: Rossifumi on September 19, 2006, 02:27:27 PM finish line pics on the website are an excellent touch. keep up the good work whoever you Kelowna people are
Title: Re: Kelowna Results? Post by: paddleBOT on September 19, 2006, 03:59:34 PM Remaining unofficial mixed division results posted on 1st page. These are what I recorded at race site. The official results have not been released yet.
Title: Re: Kelowna Results? Post by: seaboy on September 19, 2006, 04:36:02 PM The photos don't seem to match the results in some races, look at race 91 it shows lane 2 first with lane 4 in second by inches. Yet the results say lane 3 was first... wait, the times show lane 2 as first is that a typo or was lane 2 penalized for something? Also race 39 shows lane 3 first and lane 5 second but the grid shows lane 4 then 5. Am I reading this right?
Title: Re: Kelowna Results? Post by: Keen Man on September 19, 2006, 04:40:59 PM Don't know about Race 39... but the details on the Kelowna website for Race 91 are wrong... Lane 2 (Finding BMO) was first, if they had been penalised then lane 4 should be showing as the winner, not Lane 3....
. . Looks like they've corrected race 91 now.... Title: Re: Kelowna Results? Post by: SHAG-ME on September 19, 2006, 05:36:41 PM post deletd
Title: Re: Kelowna Results? Post by: Cover on September 20, 2006, 02:52:48 PM Does anyone know why the race results are not posted for races 75 and 78 in the womens finals? Am I missing something?
Title: Re: Kelowna Results? Post by: haywitch on September 20, 2006, 03:15:20 PM The results for 75 & 78 are there now.
The posted results for race 45 are incorrect, they have posted race 37 results in 45. Title: Re: Kelowna Results? Post by: Halifaxgirl on September 20, 2006, 05:08:24 PM Perfect! Thanks for asking Cover!
Title: Re: Kelowna Results? Post by: PaddleFunk on September 20, 2006, 06:29:31 PM The winning pics are great... Nice touch guys!
Times now that they are for the most part sorted out and correspond to the posted results are great too... but really only about 20% of the teams have made the pics... any way of getting the rest of the teams up there? Should only be 6 pics per heat that's not too much to ask is it? I think it would be fun to see how close the rest of us actually came to being a place up/down in the standings. Just a thought. |
