Title: Strong Male paddlers available for Nanaimo races Post by: gunghaggis on July 03, 2006, 06:40:55 PM Who wants strong male paddlers for their team in Nanaimo?
The Filipino team PYROS (Philippine Youth Rowing Society) has 7 paddlers still vacationing in Vancouver for the next week or so. They would like to enter the Nanaimo Dragon boat races... but Gung Haggis Fat Choy dragon boat teams not planning on going. (preference is to attend Kent WA + Vernon BC). I don't want to get my kilt soggy on the ferry ride (for BC Paddler). They are STRONG male paddlers.... For our July 2nd Sunday afternoon practice, the PYROS paddlers joined our practice and demonstrated "standing paddling" - It was amazing... the whole front end of the boat (12 people only on the boat) lifted into the air, because of the tremendous acceleration. They would really like to go to Nanaimo to race... Anybody interested? Thank you to the Vancouver Island teams who expressed interest in hosting the Filipino paddlers from the PYROS team. They thank the teams ' willingness to share hospitality, but will be going to spend the weekend in Whistler, as the guests of their Vancouver host. They appreciate the Canadian people, teams and race events.
