Title: Fraud Alert Post by: DBWTim on June 22, 2006, 01:31:58 PM Quote from: Ann Phelps For all teams registered in the 2006 Alcan Dragon Boat Festival - PLEASE FORWARD THIS EMAIL TO ALL YOUR TEAM MEMBERS! VERY IMPORTANT News Alert If you are contacted by a company called Great Vacation Destinations please just hang up the phone. They purchased a booth at our event under another name (Navigational) and neither an internet or BBB came up with anything negative. Unfortunately they are now calling people who have entered their name in a contest, telling them they have won and asking them for credit card information. A reputable travel company does not try to pressure people. A reputable company will not demand credit card information over the phone. A reputable company will call you to make an appointment to survey their property and will not demand credit information. We are sorry for the inconvenience this may have caused to our guests, paddlers, volunteers and ticket holders. We are also sorry for the inconvenience this may have caused another long time participant of the Alcan Dragon Boat Festival, Point 2 Point Destinations. Point 2 Point has taken part in our event for a number of years and has always been very upfront with their activities, acting with professionalism and courtesy. Title: Re: Fraud Alert Post by: rightarm on June 22, 2006, 10:40:13 PM that's actually pretty common with the contest vendors that alcan accepts. last year my g/f entered two of those "chance to win a cruise" ones at alcan, and they called me (she uses my phone number) saying we'd won and then asked for a credit card number. i think they need to be more careful with how they select their vendors
