Its only 6 days away people!   My top 5 predictions:
1. FCRCC mixed 1
2. Pac Reach 1 or DWW1
3. Pac Reach 1 or DWW1
4. FCRCC mixed 2
5. Roli Canada

Thats just from what i've seen based on results so far/what i've seen on the water and keeping in mind that i dont know who else is coming in from out of town.  (does anyone have a team list for Alcan?)

 You forgot about Kai ,Gorging ,Pemberton and then there is also the unknown about what the team from the phillipines will bring this time .Maybe a mixed crew or maybe a mens .......and don't forget about San Fran ..depends which team they bring as well .If its the A team from the dragon warriors they may be in the game as well

 I think its going to be a very tough A final but FCRCC will win mixed and mens ....ok maybe I'm bias,lol

Very similar to last year.  I think top spot is sewn up with Miss Kamini Jane's All Star cast and Kai should be a very strong contender being they're off to the WCC, Hugh Fisher's Pemberton crew and the rest will battle it out for 3-8.  It will be very exciting racing with only .001 of a sec separating these top crews. 

On another note and not to harass you Paddleboy, but why don't you use spell check  :idea: instead of editing all of your posts?

Anyone know anything about the Dutch team, KLM Blue Dragons...?

Think they'll be the wild contender this year.

Top 9 in each Pool goes into the Competitive Semi.  Top 3 from each semi goes to Comp A.

Man this is tough.  I'm pretty darn sure we'll be seeing these teams in the final, it's the order that's tough to predict.

Looks like that's a photo a women's KLM team racing in UK. I don't think this is the 5th place team in Hong Kong and I don't think these are the people we're going to see in Alcan...

I agree with paddleboy about the team from the Philippines.  Half the team showed up last year for Sea Fest and showed us what they can do...Impressive!!!  With their unique style and power, they would definitely hold down the wildcard or unknown to this years Alcan festival, with a full mixed crew and all mens team...and jumble up the predictable standings for the Comp and Mens finals!!!  When I spoke to one of them, last year, they have competed in the world's before...I guess we'll only know for sure, this weekend, what the Filipino Youth Rowing Society has to offer!!!  See you all at Alcan...

 Just have to make sure the phillipine crews follow the rules ...........no standing or kneeling ...they have to be seated at all times .

actually, i just read through all 12 pages of the Alcan Festival rules as listed on their website, and there is nothing about having to be seated during the race.  i actually want to see their standing/kneeling technique.

Is Alcan IDBF sanctioned?  'Cause I recall someone saying the c1 style is not allowed in the IDBF rules, don't quote me on it though.

They're going to have a grand time trying to get up in the retro gems, we might even see a huli. :rofl:

Read the rules closer and ye shall find the truth:

8.1.5 Steerer shall be responsible for standing at all times at the helm. Paddlers must remain seated at all times and are not allowed to kneel or stand in the boat while paddling.

So hope they don't stand

 Well I learn something new all the time

 It seems the San Fran Dragon Warriors qualified to go to the worlds as a premier open team and they did it in the central division .....wonder why they did not do the west division ?

 Anyway a small club crew preview showdown will take place as this crew will go up against the FCRCC open crew which is also going to the worlds .They take on the FCRCC B team in their first heat and the B team is no slouch ,If they make it through then they will face off against the FCRCC A team and B team assuming both make it .It will be a awesome mens race w/ FCRCC A & B and the Phillipine crew along w/ the Dragon Warriors and no doubt Pac Reach will be in there somewhere and probably the Roli / Ultimate combo team .

 Watch for some fast times and hopefully it will be a 6/16 final .If all goes well w/ tides and weather we may see sub 1.50  :shock:

I guess ADBF hasn't updated the official rules and regulations on their website because 8.1.5 only states "Steerer shall be responsible for standing at all times at the helm" which is problably what teams have been downloading.  The pdf download on the site for Rules and Reg is "2004" and knowing that their are minor rule changes, a 2006 version hasn't been posted :?  Do you know where teams can get a revised version??

Well we won't have to worry about standing ...apparently the Philippine crew once again has problems w/ visa's and such so were not going to see most of them or at least this is what I have heard ...too bad.Was really looking forward to racing them  :(

There were 2 Philippine crews.  Which one had their Visas declined?  Or maybe both crews are having problems getting it.  Either way, the PYRO crew that raced in SeaVancouver last year was impressive.  They had an incredible rate that the ROLI folk couldn't keep up with.  It'll be too bad if the Philippine crews will be watered down again.

 Not sure which crew but I think it involves both to some degree.... You would have thought they would have learned from the last time they tried to come here .

I really have to bite my tongue with all I've read.

Actually, all four teams from Pool A as noted can still make it to Comp A final.  You only need to be top 9 in pool A to advance to the competitive division.  From there...  You'll be racing against other top 9 teams from the other pools to advance to the different Comp finals.

Wasabi Warriors are the novice rec team.

It's very unlikely they end up high like that.

Ah okay...wasn't sure that was the interpretation.  Hmm, time to rethink this then...

Whatever happened to the Phillipine Youth Crew? They don't appear on the Sunday grid at all!
Looks like KLM didn't send their "A" crew either.

Yes someone please place the results online.  I wasn't able to come out and cheers on my favorite teams.  Especially the TCC Epson Dragoneers!  I am dying to hear how they did!

i think its cause the majority of them kept their shirts on this time...   not distracting eachother.

Met John (from Kai) He told me was upset at me for placing them as 4th  in my predictions (EEP, better be careful what i post! Everyone reads these !) and they tried to prove me wrong on the water! He slipped me a $20 to give them better placings in Victoria! (an American $20, would have been worth more last year...)
