The Hawaii festival uses Taiwanese flagcatchers just like the ones used in the Portland Rose Festival. Team consists of 16 paddlers, 1 steers, 1 drummer & the flagcatcher. It is a one day event, very laid back (of course). It is not really a competitive event. Most people are there because it is Hawaii or they are locals. FYI, facilities are limited. Limited tents provided so several of the team members got cooked by the sun. Plan ahead!
